Hi there. I recently picked up an original drilling in 16x16 over 7x65R. It has a geco 6x42/49 in original claw mounts. Can anyone with experience with these scopes let me know how to make adjustments for them. Thanks.

A picture would help a lot. But without that, most old drillings with claw mounted scopes have no windage turret in the scope, windage is adjusted instead by the two opposing screws in the rear claw mount. You only need to turn the opposing screws a very small amount to make an adjustment. Try backing off one side 1/4 turn and screwing in the opposite side the same amount. That will swing the scope horizontally at the rear, and will adjust point of impact.

Thanks longwalker. I felt that was likely how windage would be sorted but thought I’d ask first.

Exactly as I was picturing your mount. The Suhler claw mounts are actually pretty standardized. Please consider using a proper gunsmith screwdriver with parallel sides bit and exact fit to do the adjustment, or grind one to fit. Looks like somebody took a common carpentry screwdriver to that gun already, a nice gun like that doesn't deserve more damage to the screw heads. For the elevation turret. "H" is up in German.

So I had the gun back out to the range… was dialing what I thought was down. Ended up, H direction moved it down! Opposite of what it should be. When I figured that out, I was able to get the windage adjusted off the mount so should be ready for elk!
