Hi,

i have found a few hundred box of various uncommon and unopened ammo. Any idea about the value of each kind? About 90% unopened. Here are some:

A few hundred boxes in this vintage was more than likely an old shop inventory and there will be some real hard to find and easy sells there
Get someone in your area that is into vintage guns / ammo to help you log and price it if your plans are to sell to make sure you get fair market value
Some boxes may be worth more than the ammo in them also
Cheers

Switzer's Auction in Bancroft always features a single day auction devoted entirely to ammunition including exactly the vintage boxes etc you have there.

A good place to sell as I believe they are Canada's biggest firearms and accessory auction with 3 separate auctions (Ammunition/Reloading, Memorabilia/Militaria, Firearms) every two months.

You can get an idea by what they sell as well as to what your stuff would be worth if you sold it directly yourself (remember the buyer at an auction is paying 15-20% premium plus tax)

Next auction is at the end of February and you can follow it online on icollector as well as bookmark items that resemble your collection so you can see what they would have sold for and what you can ask in a private sale. :)

Nice find! If you take any of it to gun shows, be sure to seal the boxes or at least put them in a baggie. People who aren't aware of the value of some of those boxes will have them wrecked in no time. Place a sign nearby, something to effect of "Please ask to have boxes opened". Best is to have them in a glass topped tray.

This is a vewwy gooder point.

Nice find! Of course, there will be the "It's only shooting ammo, so sell it off cheap" gang. I put a few boxes of old ammo on my table last weekend at Regina. It was not in unopened condition by any means. Poof! It was gone. I averaged around $35 per box. If you are going to sell it at gun shows, make sure you put the boxes in baggies and put a large sign nearby that says something like, "PLEASE ASK TO HAVE BOXES OPENED", otherwise people who have no clue about opening pristine ammo boxes will have them wrecked. Even the dealers who have their ammo sealed with cling wrap will pry other dealers boxes open without asking.

One guy asked if I had owned a store. When I told I hadn't, he asked, rather belligerently how come I had all this ammo (all 10 boxes!). I told him for the same reason I had all the other stuff - because I bought it.

A few hundred boxes or rounds?
A few hundred boxes would be unreal.... excellent find

If it's "a few hundred boxes," I have a suggestion. Canada really NEEDS more dealers in collectible ammo! I have probably dealt with most of them out there.

If you have many boxes and some diversity beyond what's shown in the picture, become a dealer. There is a reasonably strong market for boxes and individual cartridges and shotshells. Besides, you could have a whole lot of fun and meet a few new faces while you are making some money!

Yes, probably around 200 boxes, so maybe not a few hundred, but a lot of ammo. My uncle got rid of his firearm collection and is finding and getting rid of his ammo. He used to collect in the 1960 and 1970, but never shot his rifle, so he accumulated a lot of ammo. Also, he was a compulsive buyer...

Thanks for all the tips and idea. I will sell what i have for now and will get an update in february
