A cool old small ring mauser, sporterized from an early 1900's Erfurt Kar 98. In 270 win, weighing in at just over 7 lbs scoped. Its seen better days, bluing worn thin, however the 10 kills carved in behind the grip cap says it was working well for someone somewhere. Quite accurate with a K6 weaver that is still clear inside yet tarnished out. Very thin stock with some real nice checkering. A real nice handling lightweight rifle of yesteryear. Post your oldies if you have something similar. Enjoy the pics.

Not quite as old as the Kar98 and in as new condition is this Husqvarna model 7000 imperial lightweight in 30-06. 20.5" barrel scoped with a fixed 6 at just over 7 lbs. Incredibly accurate with 150 interlocks. A real peach of a vintage lightweight rifle...

Couple beauties there fellas. This is my oldest, a Mauser 96, my grandad gave it a makeover for my first hunting rifle when I was 7 (1987). He carved a new stock, cut and tuntned the barrel down, reamed it to a 6.5x55 bj imp. I took my first mountain goat with it when I was 8, it hasn't been off the shelf since really, I should get it on another goat hunt soon. 6lb 2oz if my mind serves me right, bare rifle.

Not mountains per se, but certainly made for the deer hills in Scotland. Transitional action Model 98 Mauser, made in 1898 and stocked by Rigby. Rechambered (I think, at the 'smith currently for a chamber cast) in 7.65 Argentine from .275 Rigby sometime in its working life. Checkering's worn to almost nothing and the stock's been repaired, but still points like a wand at the shoulder with the cocking-piece peep sight and light as a feather.

here is my husquvarna feather weight in 9.3x62 improved . i thought it was hovering around 6 1/2 pounds when i weighed it right after i had rebarreled it ( with scope) .
