I'm in the process of buying an older rifle (1970s?) In 7x57 and need a scope. Since its an older classic looking rifle in wood I was debating buying an older redfield 4x scope in gloss that pop up on the exchange since looks wise it would be a match. Theyre about $100-150 depending on condition. Any advice or input on those scopes or any suggestions for a gloss scope thats maybe contemporary and comparable price/quality for what those older redfields offer? I just figure it would look slightly off slapping a new matte scope with tall turrets like most seem to have now a days. I'm not worried about 4x being too low of a zoom I have a .270 for open area hunting this will be for closer and in the bush.
