I just picked up an old Remington 740 that came with a Tasco 3-9x40 scope.

I would like to find out more about the scope but can't find out anything about it. on the magnification ring there is a distance guage for different types of game & on the elevation turret there is a guage for different distances.

I can email pics to those of you that are more "in the know" than me.

Thanks for your help.

I believe you have an early 80's Tasco with the rangefinder (deer elk antelope) settings on it. Yours being a Tasco probably had more animals listed.

As far as the elevation dials go there was usually 3 (they are numbered 1,2,and 3) They were for different bullet weights for different calibres. Bushnell also made a 3x9 scope like it.

there was a manual that came with your scope and it explained the dials and elevation usage.

the Bushnells werent a bad scope at all. the Tasco's were ok, but suffered the stigma of older Tasco's, meaning they were not held in high regard due to quality.

Hope I have helped you out.
