I recenlty asked for help in identifying an old Webley 38S&W. It features a solid frame, bit it loads and ejects like a single action.

It ocurred to me that I had seen another solid frame Webley (most of my other Webleys are the familair break open type).

The other is a 455 and when I put them side by side, it is clear that the 38 is a scale model of the 455.

I think the .38 was covered in another thread. Webley also scaled down their 7.65 autos to produce their 6.35 autos. The large, military autoloaders were independent designs. However, all their autoloaders were unique to Webley. I have only a RPAL, so no 7.65s or 6.35s for me. I do, however, have a 9mm Brng. Lng. autoloader made by Webley. It's pretty much just like the 7.65s.

The big one is marked RIC (Royal irish Constabulary, I assume). Not marked as the prevous owner, but as the model name. I have seen that model in the books, so the little one is clearly a contemporary. The serial numbers are 10,000 apart.

I shot the 38S&W today. 3.0 gr 7625 under a 148 HBWC. It shot to point of aim and grouped very well. About 2" at 15 yards.
