viper PST FFP or not?

As always, depends on application. I have the FFP and like it as the reticle is pretty thin on 6x. Most of my outings are for varmints, so I like the holdover at any magnification. I am not able to comment for target shooters-but I am sure out at 1000 yds, the SFP is preferable.

scope depending, the FFP reticals can become pretty thick on higer magnification and depending on what your shooting at what distance can actually block out a big part of the target

The PST's don't have that problem. The reticle is extremely thin on low mag. The thickness of the fine hair is around 0.18MOA.
FFP is fantastic for windage and holdover purposes, as well as for ranging and sizing your target, but yes, the only disadvantage is that the reticle grows with the magnification, so if you need super fine aiming on a tiny target, SFP is what you want.

I have the viper PST 6-24x50 ffp. its awesome.
true ranging at any magnification is the big advantage in my mind for the extra cost of ffp over sfp. I can also hold for wind and movers with out calculating an adjustment because of the size change of the reticle if its not on the right magnification.
Even up close (like 50 yards) at 6x the cross hairs are not thick enough to obscure a 1 inch bulls eye.
I'd get the uncapped 1-4 (or any other mag) I don't like capped turrets because it slows me down if I need to make an adjustment, and I'm afraid of losing the caps.

The greatest value of FFP to me if the ability to hold off for wind with consistent subtensions on the reticle, regardless of magnification.
Just as a side note some of Viper's scopes are quite well sought after so you may be waiting for some time when ordering a scope...

If you can wait about 6 weeks its easy just to bring one over the border. You need an International Import Certificate from Canada and the retailer will get a Commerce certificate from the US. The process takes about 2 weeks on the Canadian side and 28 days on the American side-total wait is 6 weeks.
Try EuroOptic-I've got my Vortexs now.
A dayum shame. It was a toss up for me between GrouseRiver Outfitters (the largest Vortex supplier in Canada), and EuroOptic, down in the states. Both had unknown ETAs and both had great customer service responses to my questions - I favoured GRO; however, as their service seemed to have a slight edge over EO and they were based in Canada too. Thanks for the info though

I just ordered the new Vortex HS LR 6x24x50 FFP from Grouse Mountain. So far there service is great (fast replies to email, thanks Amanda) but they also said it would be at least on month, maybe two, before they ship. Im hoping that it's in time for hunting trip planned in Oct.
