VISA Debit to pay for PAL + RPAL

The moment I turned 18 I drowned myself is as much credit debt as I could... I've since learned my lesson and this time next year will have ZERO debt! Woohoo! I have a BMO prepaid travel credit card that is accepted ANYWHERE a mastercard is accepted. The only downside to it is that you must put a minimum of 100$ on it at a time and it takes about 8-10 days for it to actually be creditied to your account before you can spend it.

I did just receive a "real" capital one credit card today though. It's going directly into a glass of water and into the freezer. It's for 100% emergency use only and will stay there unless I'm traveling out of town. That will help me resist the urge to use it!

That's strange, I had a BMO card before (few months ago), never had a minimum. Also, if I wanted to put money on the bmo mastercard, all I had to do is go into my online banking and transfer it over, instant cash onto your card. tried it many times.

cheers

Perhaps it's because I bank with RBC not Bmo. RBC doesn't offer a prepaid card. again it's not a debit card, it's an actual credit card, but you can only spend money you put on it.

Pretty sure this is the exact same one I have except mine has no fee. it was $15 to get when I 1st got it years ago and they have never charged me any other fees ever.

you could always go to the teller and put money on it right away, OR, get a prepaid credit card from Canada Post. You can fill it up at any Canada Post location, and the fees are low.

As I said earlier. I just received a real CC today. It's for emergencies only, but should I need to buy something online I will transfer the cash to the real card before I actally use it. I was just explaining that there were options for the OP and that the BMO card worked well enough for my purposes, but did have a flaw or two.
