I've searched high and low for some in-depth review of this optic and could only find people posting youtube about the initial purchase of this optic but nothing more.

I have purchased one from Marstar: http://marstar.ca/dynamic/product.jsp?productid=87336 a little before x-mas and have finally took it out to the shooting range to test it out today.

The spec and the platform it's attached on:
Rifle:
Kel-tec su16 special edition in Tan - the Rifle in capable hands are able to produce a very tight grouping @ 100m (measured 0.8 inch) - one of my close friend's capable - not me (I hit around 2 - 3 inches with the provided iron/plastic sights bagged)
=Took the original crap optic that it came with, it was literally crap (eotech look-a-like). The cover kept popping open.
ammo:
American Eagle Red box bulk package. 55gr.

First of all, the instructional booklet. The English is great but the elevation adjustment is just a tad bit confusing for me personally. Took me a whole half hour to work out the sighting to figure out I've been turning the elevation knob the wrong way and making it hit

Second of all, the entire optic package came in a very nice zip-up case with form fitting foam that you will never use once the optic is attached. Feels like I'm wasting the case.

On to the actual shooting:
I did no bore sighting with the optic.
Target is @ 50meters
It did take a full 2 turn of the windage dial to get the sight to print a round on paper. - 10 rounds later
Another 10 rounds to finally get the windage to zero on paper.
As I said before the elevation knob gave me a headache as the instruction was a bit confusing to me.
Took me 40 rounds before it hit paper, then another 20 rounds to zero it.

After the zeroing I took the optic off the quick release and reattached the optic. The zero was off to the top right about 1/2 inch each way.
Also noticed a small black speck on the bottom left in the field of view in the optic. - not sure if I knocked something out of place or if something came loose in the optic itself.

Afterward I readjust the zero @ 50meters and I fired @ a target out to 200 meters. - 40 rounds later
The result is good. Had some decent 3.4 inches grouping but I believe it's operator's error rather than the optic/rifle combination.

I have NOT zero in the green laser - I have accidentally misplaced the tiny TINY allen head. That thing is tiny, keep it in a safe place or attach it on a magnet or something.

This is just my initial impression of the optic.

It's great for the price range that it is at from Marstar $189.95 for a 4x optic is good.
And it holds the zero decently

The quick release has a safety latch but it's a little sticky on mine and would require a small flat-head screw driver to give it a small flip to open. I am thinking of leaving it on the Kel-Tec SU16 special edition anyways so I won't be removing it much so it matters little to me. Others may find this annoying.

The Red and White nav light is not bright at all, I have only test it at home at night, it is as advertised just a navigation light, good for walking around and able to see the ground. NOT a tactical light use for identification of target or anything.

The blue back-lite reticle is very bright and it works during day-light as well. But it is too bright at night. Also notice it lights up the outer edge of the field of view. I put up a piece of paper behind the optic at night and it shows a big blue ring on the paper. If you want stealthy, don't use the the blue lite-up reticle, also noticed it's bad for natural night vision of the aiming eye with the use of the blue light.

More time will be needed to tell how durable it is. I am also very happy with this purchase from Marstar as I know they are very good with their customers.

Will revise this as time goes on.

Sorry but just being honest here. I had some experience with the NcStar line of scopes. And they lasted maybe a month. Who knows, might get lucky. But if you're looking for budget optics I'd at least try out UTG. They got a lil 3-9 that is actually supposed to be decent. But in all honesty, shooting with a good optic that has crisp cler glass and accurate turrets is a lot more enjoyable. I spent 450$ on a bushnell elite 5-15-40 and I really like it. Except the fat crosshairs. But then I got a Sightron STAC plus some cheaper vortex scopes and it is great to have something that you know will last and have great warranties. On the EE you can find some great deals for Burris, bushnell, vortex. That's the way I'd go.

you remind me of a newer guy at my club.
He buys a 1k savage target model. Then he whines about how pricey scopes are and buys a 100$ cheap craptastic bushnell (pre elite series).
I just don't understand that mentality, and went the opposite, and bought a $350 savage and a 1k sightron.

For the cost of several boxes of precision 300WM, you can get a "decent" scope. Check out the EE for deals, I picked up a vxiii and varix iii for very good prices.

I've heard of UTG but don't know of anyone personally with experience with them. You're right- 95% of the time these cheap scopes just won't last.
I wish I could find high magnification in a scope that doesn't cost $600+ and that will stand up to .300 Win Mag or similar.

Ya UTG are still low end optics. But they got a lil 3-9 that I've actually read some good reviews on. Called the bug buster or something like that. I was looking at it for my K 31 but went with the Bushnell instead. It's only 150$ but out of all the cheap Chinese stuff UTG( leapers ). I've used their rings on a 17 hmr and the hold zero great. A 300wm though, I don't know. This was all before I joined here and seen the deals on the EE. But one guy on you tube stuck that bugbuster scope on his AR for a couple of months and raved about it. Maybe them Chinese are getting a lil better with quality.
