Vltor A5 Stock System

There is a company in the states that makes Buffers for the Vltor A5's, not 100% on this but I beleive its called "Heavy Buffers" company. Lots of of option on the weights.

Vltor themselves sell A5H0(3.8oz) to A5H4(6.8oz) buffers.

I was thinking getting one (the tube and buffer) for my MK18 as I'll eventually build me a MK12 upper and if I understand correctly, the A5 is made to be reliable no matter what gas/barrel you pair it with.
What I don't get is if that is the case, why the different buffer weight? If you have to switch buffer when you switch upper I might as well stick to the standard tube and do that... I fail to see the advantage here. Enlighten me people.

Because AR platform has anything from 7.5" to 20" barrels with 3 different gas tube lengths and no standard gas port size. Shorter barrels will require heavier buffer since the gas pressure is increased compare to say 16" barrel with carbine gas tube.

Here is a list of buttstocks that can fully collapse on the A5.

Vltor E-mod
Magpul CTR /w extended buttpad
Magpul STR
Magpul ACS
Magpul ACS-L
NEA SOPMOD /w waterproof battery storage cover removed

My big .50 is 16" and has no brake. Lol

I'm going to investigate this. I was looking at everything from thicker butt pads, to a FAB defense gl-shock, to a magpul ubr.

Thanks for pointing this out.

The 6 position RE accepts and fits better to the std size stock no gap between castle nut and stock( ctr,STR , Imod) the Large type - Emod, ACS/ACS-L for the 7 position RE
