Hey guys, finally got the gun all set up for deer season next week, went out and did some testing on the weekend and sighted in the eotech. Heres what I have:

ICR CQB stock
Fab defense buttstock with buffer tube
Eotech 552 sight mounted on a Vltor casv-14 rail

Now the gun shoots great! Groups good at 50 yards (all that we were able to get to before the rain) Only had 1 issue... Had a problem with 3 empty casings getting "stuck" in the bolt when it closed. Im shooting Hornady 165 grain 308's. Now when the casings got stuck, they were stuck basically on a 45 degree angle coming out of the gun, just basically the base of the case being jammed between the bolt and the reciever. I shot about 35 shells from the gun, and other then those 3 stuck cases it shot flawlessly! I will also mention that when it did jam, it had picked up the next round in the magazine and then just slammed closed onto the empty casing, all you had to do was pull the empty casing out and let the bolt close and it was good to go.

Now the question: I took the gun apart, made sure the gas port was lined up with the piston and it was perfect, and as I said basically 95% of the time the gun cycles perfect! Im wondering is it possible that the Vltor rail which goes over the top of the bolt is not letting the empty casings eject properly? I examined the underside of the rail and there is some brass markings on it basically right above where the empty casing gets jammed. Im just wondering when the shell goes to eject if its actually in fact contacting that rail which in turn jams just the tip of the casing in the bolt? I know pics would greatly help but I dont know how to post any lol.

Any help/ideas on this are much appreciated! Thanks!

way back when i was shooting , the first thing when the gun malfunctioned for ANY reason was to CHANGE THE MAG- see if the problem travels with the mag or if it's with the rifle-i have whole kit full of unreliable mags

Forgot to mention that I did try and change mags, was shooting the factory 5 round and the factory 20 round magazine that came with the gun and both did the same thing

I notice that if there is over 43 grains of powder (Varget) then I do get the occasional stove pipe or jam cause it cycle's way to fast for this rifle design.
So another words super preformance ammo from hornady does cause cycling issues in my M14's.
