Hey All,

Well the title says it. I've been eye balling the vltor mod stock for some time now. Just wondering how you like it, for those of you who have it. Pro's, Con's? Any modification needed for fit a norinco in it?

Put my M1A into the stock. Works great. For the AFG and the Vltor Sling mount, i did relieve the inside of the stock with a dremel for the backing washers would not rub on the op rod. Did the tilt test afterwards and was fine.

I got my Norinco on the EE already in a VLTOR. I love it, and am now contemplating getting the upper rail CASV-14 to complement it. As far as I can see, there was no modifications required to make it fit.

I like mine. With a Norinco, you do need to do the "popsicle stick mod" to keep the spring guide retaining pin from sliding out.

Probably the best USGI fibreglass mod-stock available on the market, even today. This stock has been around for a long time. Buy it without question. I owned one in 2009 and I can say honestly, I regret selling it. It's balance and lightweight is excellent. With our new M14.ca SHG scout hand guard weighing in at 164 grams, this stock will be enhanced for scout style setups. This part will be available soon. Shown in this photo is a UTG tri-rail, but our SHG rail will co-witness a Aimpoint T1 on the forearm with your M14 irons. It's point of attachment to the M14 barrel is arguably the best in the world.

very cool. will have to investigate more

I've seen your developement thread for the SHG rail, looks really sharp with the Blackfeather. Thus making for a tough decision. Doesn't Hungry say on just get one? So in the future I'd like to get my hands on another m14/m305 along with the Blackfeather set up.

I just ordered the Vltor, already have the same tri rail as above. Just need the small stuff now such as extended releases, and a brake or flash hider of some sort.

Doing some searches in the US forums, peoples experience with the vltor modstock have certainly been mixed.
The vltor pistol grip/adjustable buttstock is an excellent unit, but it is simply screwed and glued to the back of a cut off surplus usgi stock. I have personally repaired 7 or 8 of these stocks due to cracks and adaptor seperation. They are light and handle very well... But the adaptor/surplus GI stock union just reeks of "bubba" for the price one has to pay to get one.

Hmm, interesting. Never thought of that..

Lol. Well that sucks!
I'm sure I could have done my homework a little better. But name and rep played a part in the decision. Since I've already ordered, I'll simply have to hope for the best.

Now in the event of speration or cracks, is this something that one could address themselves, or does the matter require professional help?

Yep. All it takes is a boat repair kit and some time. It's fiberglass USGI stock moded with a ar15 ergo's. Lots of fun and easy to up-keep.
Oh ya no shamless plug about my products or future release dates about soon to be retailed products here. Yep just un-bias, non-b.s. post. ;)

So, it's best and bubba at the same time?

LOL.

I doubt m14.ca has had the experience in handling (and repairing) the Vltor. There's a reason Frank thinks it's the best LOL read between the lines, you'll figure it out.

Anyhow, back in the beginning... Over a decade ago, it was "because" my newly aquired Vltor stock cracked on me near the adaptor, I went down the "make my own damn stock route".
Vltor doesn't suck, it's just a bit of buyer beware in order here. Most guys simply aren't aware that a vltor stock is a MOD-STOCK, meaning it's adaptor is screwed and glued.
My comments are unbiased as well as I am no longer in the M14 stock making game ;)
