VLTOR M1S Stock experience?

I doubt m14.ca has had the experience in handling (and repairing) the Vltor. There's a reason Frank thinks it's the best LOL read between the lines, you'll figure it out.

Anyhow, back in the beginning... Over a decade ago, it was "because" my newly aquired Vltor stock cracked on me near the adaptor, I went down the "make my own damn stock route".
Vltor doesn't suck, it's just a bit of buyer beware in order here. Most guys simply aren't aware that a vltor stock is a MOD-STOCK, meaning it's adaptor is screwed and glued.
My comments are unbiased as well as I am no longer in the M14 stock making game ;)

I just wish you would go back to working on M14's and doing builds. :(

I owned a VLTOR modstock for over a year. I ran approx. 2000 rounds through this rifle stock without any failure. I have not owned every fibreglass stock made, therefore, take my commentary from this POV and without bias, because there is none. In my opinion, the butt stock adapter VLTOR integrates into a USGI fibreglass stock is an innovative part. It allows for height adjustment, which allows you to set your rifle up ideally for optics or irons or both. Blackfeather's ability to change out the rear butt stock adapter offers this ability and versatility but you need to change out the adapter entirely (I decided to do this because it will allow for a greater amount of options, side folding, for example). Here is an image of the union between rifle stock and butt stock adapter on a VLTOR modstock, up side down for your reference. I never had a problem with this connection. Broken VLTOR modstocks are few and far between, but yes, it happens, but the great thing about fibreglass stocks is that they are easily repaired and will offer you a lifetime of hard use. I would not hesitate to buy one again. For US riflemen reading this, I would add that as far as I know and read VLTOR repairs modstocks for free and in some cases, have even shipped brand new stocks to their end users.

The REALITY is
We are not americans so pay a higher price, do not have access to Vltor's warranty system without incurring costs and filing BATF paperwork.
My comments come from a Canadian point of view, period.
At least I'm not here taking part in discussions, to up my post cpunt and plug my products LOL

Just keepin it real.

Dude in GP , you and many other's my friend, I have a steady flow of requests for stocks and rifle work but I'm just not into it right now. Being retired at 43 is a unique situation and for now, the M14 will remain a hobby so it stays fun. ;)

You don't exactly have a track record of making unbiased posts, although that is one of the first posts of yours where you didn't suggest a product you sell instead.(although you did that earlier in the thread).

Thomas built fibreglass stocks, the guy did a great job at it. I would heed his advice. Not saying you are not experienced M14.ca you do bring knowledge to this site and that is always appreciated.

This thread is about the VLTOR modstock: my opinion that it is the best fibreglass stock available is my own and I stated the specific reason I think so. I do not have any affiliation with VLTOR.

Thanks for your reply Blegend. I am relaying my experience with the VLTOR modstock I owned and I don't have the same opinion here. No big deal. Cheers for now.

Lol. Well that sucks!
I'm sure I could have done my homework a little better. But name and rep played a part in the decision. Since I've already ordered, I'll simply have to hope for the best.

Now in the event of speration or cracks, is this something that one could address themselves, or does the matter require professional help?

Vltor upgraded their modstock to fix that problem last year, therefore we were having a shortage before. However, if you purchase the vltor products thru us and any of our dealers we supply to, we will handle the warranties.

Well then, I am just thankful for the two builds you did for me. Thank you again.
