My son just inherited a 22lr from his grandfather and I'm not familiar with the manufacturer. I know simply from picking up the gun that it is a quality firearm (way better than the camp gun quality 22's I have anyway) and an online search answered some questions but I was hoping some of the good folks here could help a bit more. Unfortunately I cannot post pictures on the site but if I am able to sort that out, I will put some up.
The gun is a German made Voere GmbH bolt action 22lr with a small flush mount magazine. It has an adjustable rear sight that ranges from 25-200 yards. The stock is beautiful oiled wood with a raised cheek piece on the left side (nicer stock than on my weatherby!) It has several proof marks on it including an eagle with outspread wings over the letter N (on the barrel and bolt) and an arch shaped mark with 4 "slashes" and the number 63 at the end (which I suspect it the year of manufacture based on the info I have). It is a beautifully balanced gun and I can only hope it shoots as well as it looks!
Any information anyone has would be greatly appreciated. I visited a web site for Voere firearms but I read on another forum that they are not related to the manufacturer of the gun I have. Also, if anyone has a location where I could research firearm proof marks I would appreciate that information as well (I have looked through this site and not found the ones on my ....oops I mean my sons 22.
