17 WSM Rifle Update
October 2013
Our 17 WSM semi-auto prototypes have been built and are currently in testing. We've been fielding a tremendous amount of questions about this exciting new rifle, so we hope this information helps.
We will begin taking orders at the 2014 SHOT Show in Las Vegas.
The initial release will feature a laminated wood stock, stainless steel receiver and a stainless steel bull barrel.
Standard magazine capacity will be 8 rounds.
The rifle will utilize a direct blowback action
We are pursuing additional stock options as well as options for a lightweight version of the rifle, however there is no anticipated release date for either.
The 17 WSM cartridge necessitates a different action than our 17 HMR rifles. Unfortunately, 17 HMR rifles cannot be converted to 17 WSM.

What do you guys think, worth picking one up?

Not sure it's my cup of tea, but sounds very interesting. Granted, wouldn't mind seeing how the bolt guns shoot first in this caliber.

I'm guessing the price will be well above the 1000 mark, would be a great little coyote gun to keep beside the 223. They call into the 50 to 100 yard mark almost always, semi auto would make for some nice doubles or maybe even a triple which I have not been able to accomplish with a bolt gun. But if they hang out at the 400 yard mark the 223 will come into play. I've taken a lot of coyotes at the 50 to 80 yard mark with a 17 hmr so I'm sure the super mag will do its job out to 100. It will make for a great long shot upland gun as well, as long as it's accurate enough for head shots only. I'm sure a body shot would leave only a puff of feathers, as I've also seen with the hmr. I will be getting my hands on one as soon as possible. Will most likely be late 2015 before we see them though.
