I have an sr 22 rifle that has stove piping and is ammo sensitive. I am trying to upgrade the extractor but I can't seem to find any upgrades available in Canada. Any advice?

You can buy Kidd parts for ur gun through Dlask Arms in BC. I believe an extractor is around $21.99. Their stuff is top quality. If ur wanting to upgrade a new bolt from DLASK or Kidd will greatly improve ur reliability and I’d recommend a $5.00 bolt buffer to prevent beating the receiver up and quiet the cycling as well. It might be a particular ammo as well or does it do it with various brands?

It does it with various brands. It is better with ccl but it is still not great. Basically I am looking to do a few upgrades to it. I am new to the gun scene my only unreliable gun is my sr 22. It isn't just stove piping it also often fails to fully cycle. If I was willing to spend a few hundred what upgrades would you recommend?

Don't be afraid to try Volquartsen (or Kidd) extractors. I changed my firing pin out to Vol. at the same time, greatly improved reliablilty. Both Volq and Kidd are excellent kit.

A Volquartson extractor, Nylon "Tuffer Buffer" and a Ruger BX trigger made my SR-22 run flawlessly. Got the extractor & buffer from Sinclairs in conjunction with some other stuff so shipping was not bad.

The parts from Kidd are as the highest quality in machining and materials and DLASK is very comparable. I have a bunch of custom 10-22 variants in both 17 mach2 and 22. The Kidd or DLASK bolt will improve reliability as well as accuracy. They have much better extractors as well as pinned firing pins which are not stamped but wire edm produced. They are also radiused where needed and highly polished. Check to make sure your extractor and the extractor groove in ur barrel are clean . They should also be in alignment and not rubbing on one side or the other but extractor in the middle of extractor groove. As far as triggers I have experience with a bunch and will list in order what I think from best to worst. Kidd,Timney,Volquartsen, and Bx. The Kidd is as good as a match trigger on a centerfire rifle. Expensive but impressive

I had a similar issue with a regular 10/22. The bolt needed to be headspaced (could also replace with a new one). The other best upgrade for reliability I ever made was putting a dlask polished guide rod and replacement main springs.

I have a promag and 2 butler creek magazines. I find there is more tension in the promag magazine. I get 2 to 3 stovepipe with the butlers but have had none with the promag.

Another option is Tandem Cross. They have upgrade extractor/spring kits for $10, and other upgrade parts, and they ship to Canada. They have good reviews on Rimfirecentral.com.
