Vortex 3x magnifier pairing?

Noob. Fng question. Should this be here or Black gun forum?

I am awaiting the arrival of a Vortex 3x magnifier. I'm now looking to pair it with an optic ideally Vortex. It will be on a Colt Diemaco 15.7. It will be primarily fun gun and maybe one day if the 3 Gun or Multis pick up in Ontario I would run it in that. Really I just like the set up and don't have Eotech or Aimpoint money right now.

What is a good pairing from Vortex?

Does tube size matching for matching up? I noticed some are narrower than the 30mm magnifier.
 
I had a VMX3T matched up with a Vortex SPARC. It matches up PERFECTLY and works ok.

I ended up selling both and spending the cash on an EoTech 512 and G33STS magnifier.

The Vortex magnifier and RDS are ok, but I vastly prefer my (more expensive) EoTech setup. I find the positive locking slide to side mount of the Eotech G33 far superior to the VMX3T. The pushbutton on the VMS3T is quite stout, and not as fast as the EoTech. Also, I found the VMX3T had the slightest bit of slop to it, while the EoTech is VERY steady.

I still have the SPARC and run it on my PDW. It's a good little optic, but again, I prefer my Eotech 512 and run it on my primary competition gun. I found the SPARC dot is sharp to the naked eye, but slightly irregular under magnification. I also find the EoTech "Donut of Death" recticle superior to a single dot at the best of times.

Thanks Eagle. That's the kinda response I'm looking for. Glad to hear the sparc would work as that is in the budget easy right now and will save money for ammo.
