If anyones interested im looking to sell this scope. Could be a good choice for any type of hunting.

I know, I know, I know, everyone here loves vortex, but I just dont trust their quality, my personal opinion and taste, I'd go with a leupold...

By the way... this belongs in the ee, not here...

What has led you to question their quality? Is it the manufacturing process, materials, workmanship, personal experience with their product?
 
First of all, this looks like a for sale thread, should be in the EE

Second, I like the vortexes and all, but putting an adjustable objective on a hog hunting rifle scope does not make any sense at all. What were they thinking? I thought this was an april fools joke for a minute.

It is kind of a weird scope since it is a 4x magnification scope with an adjustable objective, were as most 4x scopes seem to have a side parallax adjustment

Sorry missed your reply, to get a clear image at 20 yards as opposed to 100 yards you need to turn your objective adjustment for that setting, from everything I've seen regarding hog hunting, hogs are notorious for moving through thick brush, the same for those hunting them, where you would likely only see them for a brief moment when crossing a trail, and in that circumstance you don't have the time to adjust the objective wether that be for 15 yards or 100. You do definitely have time to adjust your objective while shooting paper at different ranges, and usually for gophers as they will be coming out of their holes in about the same area.

Having said all that, it would probably work well if your set up to get them at a baited area, but I wouldn't think of it as an all round hog rifle in that sense.

The AO thing is good for getting a clear image, but you compromise in that you need to adjust it for different ranges, or when you forget to turn it back to a reasonable compromise setting after setting up for a longer shot. They have their place, but I don't think brush hunting or big game hunting is part of it, unless your part of the "long range big game sniper" group. Just my opinion, I learned this from experience with an AO on a hunting rig.

Has anyone found that the Vortex scopes are shorter on eye relief than other scopes comparable to them...? Heard lots very good about Vortex scopes, but the one we've seen the most is mounted on a Buddy's .300 Wby, and no one will shoot it anymore because no wants Weatherby Eyebrow.....?! It's a Viper.....
 
IMO - the crossfire scopes are JUNK. Lots of better options at that price point.

If they were cheap enough that you could buy 2, so you can use one while the other is in for SPACTACULAR warranty...

I was just looking at the "have you had a scope break" poll thread, apparently they do better then leupolds and bushnells on average.

Keep in mind that bushnell has lots of super cheap options and its likly due to the massive amount of cheap scopes out there.

Not sure why leupolds are having so much issues. Maybe because they suck?

I've had dozens and dozens of leupold and bushnell (I speak only of the elite/3200/4200 here) and I've never had a failure. I have owned 2 crossfire scopes (bought 1, failed, replaced, failed, replaced, sold new in package). I was using them on a shotgun, and they were rated for a shotgun, maybe on a .22.... but I would never put one on a gun for a paid hunt.
