Vortex CROSSFIRE II 3-12X56 AO HOG HUNTER RIFLESCOPE thoughts

Keep in mind that bushnell has lots of super cheap options and its likly due to the massive amount of cheap scopes out there.

Not sure why leupolds are having so much issues. Maybe because they suck?

yeah, didn't want to say it but thats kinda where I was headed I guess.

I've had dozens and dozens of leupold and bushnell (I speak only of the elite/3200/4200 here) and I've never had a failure. I have owned 2 crossfire scopes (bought 1, failed, replaced, failed, replaced, sold new in package). I was using them on a shotgun, and they were rated for a shotgun, maybe on a .22.... but I would never put one on a gun for a paid hunt.

Huh, so you had problems with their cheapest entry level scope, I've got a crossfire II on my .325 WSM and not an issue to speak of, I did have a leupold 4-12 vari-X II many years ago that didn't seem to hold zero, sent it in on warranty and then posted it for sale. But then again if I had your luck with the vortex I'd probably feel the same way, as per my leupold experience, it seems for any of us, we only need to have one bad scope and then you never want to touch one again, no matter who the manufacturer is.

It's actually unusual to see a 12x scope have an AO or side focus. Usually found on 14x and up. My preference would be side focus over AO any day for a scope that had it. They are great on the range or at long distances or where moving to make the adjustment isn't an issue for the game spotting that movement.

Theres plenty of 10x scopes that have the side parallax adjustment.

My view on vortex is the one I received which is a 2x7 diamondback has a ton parelex at 50 yards. When I look at the target it's blurry. Now I have a TV screen 2x7 redfield and the glass is clearer and it's clear at 50 and 100. I understand it's set for 100 yards but my redfield out performs my vortex and it's ancient.

First of all, this looks like a for sale thread, should be in the EE

Second, I like the vortexes and all, but putting an adjustable objective on a hog hunting rifle scope does not make any sense at all. What were they thinking? I thought this was an april fools joke for a minute.

Adjustable objective parallax is much less expensive to manufacture than side parallax. That's why you only see it on the diamondback and crossfire lineups where they are trying to to stay in a particular price point.

Has anyone found that the Vortex scopes are shorter on eye relief than other scopes comparable to them...? Heard lots very good about Vortex scopes, but the one we've seen the most is mounted on a Buddy's .300 Wby, and no one will shoot it anymore because no wants Weatherby Eyebrow.....?! It's a Viper.....

Which Viper? If it's the original Viper than its the first scope Vortex ever turned out, so it's closer to 3.5 inches of eye relief. Any other lineup from Vortex except the original diamondback has a full 4 inches of eye relief.
