I went to my local gunshop today with the intentions of buying a diamondback 4x12x40, for my .270 rifle, that will be used for deer hunting, occasional coyote hunting, and a moose rifle back-up. Once I got there, they were sold out & after calling the Vortex distributor, I was informed that a diamondback 4x12x40 is in high demand, and won't be in until late August. Being impatient, I wanted something sooner than later. After looking at countless brands, models, and sizes, I chose to buy a diamondback 3.5x10x50. I checked out this scope vs a leupold vx1 4x12x40 in a shaded area outside, and when the leupold was set on 12x, and the vortex on 10x, I personally felt that because of the 50mm lense, the vortex at 10x made longer ranges much more clear & bright vs the leupold set at the higher 12x...therefore, giving the slight advantage to the vortex in long range shooting over the leupold, despite the leupold having slightly higher magnification.....I hope my theory proves to be correct.

Anyone else have the vortex diamondback 3.5x10x50 ? comments ?
