Vortex Diamondback on a 10/22?

Not too much scope, just not the right scope. In a Vortex I would look at this one,http://www.vortexoptics.com/product/vortex-diamondback-4-12x40-ao-riflescope-v-plex-reticle/reticle or http://www.vortexoptics.com/product/vortex-diamondback-4-12x40-ao-dead-hold-bdc-reticle/reticle. Any of the 1" tube 3-9x40mm-50mm objective scopes made for rimfire from any of the major manufacturers would be suitable if you don't like the AO feature. The ideal scope IMHO is a side focus in the 5-15x40 range but the side focus tends to bring the price up a bit. Thanks so much for your suggestions. Question: if you were to speculate what would be the general consensus for a rimfire, a BDC or no compensation? I'm new with scopes, use to the iron's, so hope the question isn't that naive.

BDC is very useful on rimfire 22 cal.as there is a lot of bullet drop.The Nikon 150 BDC is design for 22 or bullet drop.Sight it in @ 50 yds and then use the circles in 25 yd increments. Takes the guess work out of long range 22 cal shooting.

Thanks. I totally get that response. Even I can understand that. And since I'm new to the scope end of things I think the BDC would be helpful to me.

I have the bcd in my diamondback and if you shoot at distances take note of where the has marks are for that distance. Easy. I looked at that nikon rimfire and there is to much stuff to remember. When its at 3 power the circles are different yardages then when at 9 power. With the vortex I have they are close enough at 3 and 9 to make hits.

I don't use a BDC reticle but that is just a personal choice. I've always had good results just using good old fashioned "Kentucky Windage" as that is the way I learned. I see nothing wrong with them and the Vortex one looks really nice and uncluttered so if that is what you want go for it. Just be sure to do what hometownhero suggested and figure out where each hash mark hits after sighting in.
 
As far as i know in the Diamond back line its the 2-7x35 that is a rimfire scope. Had one on a CZ 452 once. Liked it very much. I just mounted a Sightron SIH 4-12x40HHRAO on my Z5 in WMR. Wow, a lot of scope for 185$!!
 
+1 on the Diamondback 4-12AO with bdc. Have one on my Evo Scout. Might as well be able to see the intended target clearly. Small scopes work ok, but larger ones just do a better job.
 
Hey Man, I'm running a Vortex Diamondback 3x9x40 V-Plex on my 10/22 in a troy t22 chassis.. Other that slowing disassembly for cleaning, I am very happy with it. I went and put a thousand rounds through it this morning.. cutting branches off trees with .22's is a great time waster

Hey Thringer, what do you think of the same scope that you have but with the BDC. What was the reason you chose the V-Plex over the BDC in the Diamondback 3-9x40?
 
I have a 2-8 diamondback for rimfire on my 10/22 and love it. Nice and clear and shoots very well I was hitting a 4" steel plate @ 150 yards no problem
