After purchasing a vortex razor lht for $1500 advertised as coming with a coupon for a free custom ballistic strip I went to order the strip and they wont ship to canada. Vortex was no help and said I'm SOL basically and I can buy a turret from ballistix.ca
Maybe this will help you decide between leupold VX-5 and Razor lht

I'm already sold on Leupold's VX-5HD / VX-6HD line. Thanks for giving me yet another reason that reassures me that I've made the right decision.

Often it's the little things like you've just encountered that make/break the opportunity a company has to gain a satisfied repeat customer.

Vortex canada told me kenton does not ship to canada, then sent me a link to ballistix.ca. and no dialogue. I replied asking what that was supposed to mean and they sent me a coupon code to ballistics.ca that does not work.
Its about $60 for the sticker, but I bought a $1500 scope that was advertised to get a custom strip. Pretty dissapointing

Yeah this is rather disingenuous. Typically stuff like this if it doesn't apply to Canada, it should say pretty clearly, just like some extras for some companies they will only ship within the continental US (so no Hawaii or Alaska). I personally don't like these kinds of giveaways because it really leaves a bad taste in the buyer's mouth. After all some of these extras is the incentive that drives people towards a decision to buy a product.

Bought two vortex had problems with them both cost 200$ to replace one and the other one some guy in Kingston told me nothing wrong peddled both off at loss told the people they had problems never again

I personally would never buy a Vortex scope - didn't like how they done business - they came in underpriced everyone else - offered a great warranty once they got market share the quality went south. Just this alone, turned me off the scopes - I have purchased several Leupolds in the past as my first post here indicates I bought two 4500 4x - I still own my 3-9x40 Bushell Dust / Dawn it never failed me in 16 years.

It is advertised with every one for sale in canada, same blurb for all dealers

Then I suggest a call to the BBB. Seems a shady way to do business. I wonder is Vortex head office (not Vortex Canada) would feel about this.

I would add that last comment to any conversation I have with Vortex Canada.

Cheers

I guess Nightforce it is then. Just kidding I was going Nightforce from the start. Great scopes and not the worst prices if you catch a flash sale or check and get price matches from other parts of Canada.

Sounds like they are trying to give you a coupon for that free sticker but it got messed up. I would reach out and let them know it didn't work.

Sue in small claims court for breach of contract? Or just return it for a refund. BBB might get a fire lit under them, as suggested.

Ya, it's really not that big of deal.,I just think people should know this scope is falsely advertised as most of us who would purchase it are wanting a custom turret too. The scope is awesome and I will buy a turret, but vortex as company is balls to me now.

Due to the influence of environmentals, a custom turret seems like a bit of a gimmick, although you should be able to get it if it’s advertised.

From vortex.com:
"Where do you ship products?
We ship only to locations within the United States (including Alaska and Hawaii). We do not ship to Puerto Rico, Guam, APO/FPO Boxes or international addresses."

The packaging is done for the US market, in essence, Canadian distributor (be it Vortex Canada or some other one) would have to either
1. open the package and remove the coupon before selling to a Canadian customer which would probably raise the questions re tampering and selling used ones ...
2. have a special Canadian version of packaging which due to miniscule size of Canadian market is most cases is not even on the radar as not viable.

Being advertised on Vortex US site which clearly states that they do not ship to international destinations pretty clearly points that the advertised promotion is not applicable in Canadian market.

If the Canadian seller advertised this promotion in Canada, then it's between that seller and you as a customer, but did the seller advertise that?
