I usually just measure the outside diameter with my digital caliper, check out the Butler Creek site and order from your dealer. There's no guessing etc.

Remember that the advertised size is of the glass. The outside diamter will vary greatly eg: a scope with a 44mm objectve may very well take a 48mm flip cover.

Measuring is always best... YMMV

I have butler creek ones for my PST 4-16x50 FFP MRAD.

For the vortex site (vortex USA) they have dimensions of the various scopes. For the vortex flip caps, the Objective looks like either a 6 or 7 (6 would very very tight, 7 may be loose) and for the ocular a size 4 would be very tight and a size 5 may be loose. With the larger size, in a worst case scenario you could put some electrical or root beer tape over (a layer or two) for the scope cap to fit over, it would also provide some protection if the scope cap gets bumped.

For the butler creek ones, the #40 Objective is what you want on the front (keep in mind it is very tight) and a #15 eye (I think) which is just snug not too tight.
