I was looking at getting one of their redots for my Ar-15, i was wondering if anyone had anything to say about them, good or bad. The fact that it comes with the 2x magnifier was also kind of cool, anyone give theirs a try yet?

Thanks

Guys I will let you know very soon. I talked to WSS tonight and they don't have any in stock. I also talked to another stocking dealers in my area and they said that Vortex service is great and he promissed me he will have one in for me by Thursday next week. So I ordered a Strikefire Bright Red Dot Extra High mount . I also questioned him about there warrenty the dealer said they have a lifetime warrenty I mentioned the web said Vortex limited lifetime warranty and asked to confirm this on monday when he places my order. as I would like to know. Most others like Tasco, Bushnell, Burris & others only have a 1 year warrenty on red dots. Forgot I'm also calling him back asap to order the killFLASH Threaded ARD might as well go all out.

They have an office in Ontario for warranty for Canadians.

Go with a local store or Grouse River IMO...I find WSS pricing too high on the Vortex line, and Grouse River has better pricing, WAY better selection, and better service. Like mentioned before, Canadian service and 'forever, we don't care if you drove over it with your truck' warranty. Great scope in the value pricing range.

i ordered the strikeforce ar-15 from grouse river, nice guy and he seemed to know what he was talking about, ill post pics and let you guys know what i think when it arrives.

You can slao get Vortex from "Natures corner store" in Edmonton. Better than WSS pricing as well. The little red dot is pretty good actually.

Ok I finally got this on my AR I was unable to test it as I'm down with a bug, What I can say is I ordered the Strikefire with high mount and Red only dot... what I got was the red green dot model. I talked to Vortex Canada and what they said is this... They will warranty the Red dots for Limited lifetime.. I asked what that means they tell me as long as I didn't bang it - drop it or blow it up.. they will cover there end 100% i.e. if the electronics in the Red dot dies it's covered.. from what I know most Red dots on the market are only a 1 year parts & labor deal.. At Vortex it's a life time, So that's a plus as long as there in business.

The Strikefire does come with Battery, solid mount, flip up caps & a bonus 2x times magnifier which threads onto the eye piece. this magnifier also has a dioptre for focusing which is nice. The dot in my case can be changed for Red to Green it's a 4moa dot which to me was a little fuzzy. Note : ( SPARC red dot from Vortex is a 2moa dot..)

looking at the front when mounting onto my AR I noticed that the front glass of the Strikefire was a very bright yellow lens coating which would be very reflective in the sun which I didn't like very much, But luckily I order a Kill Flash for the scope $45 extra, All I had to do is remove the flip-up cap on the front & thread on the kill flash then replace the flip-up cap. The kill flash does make it a bit darker to look through but when I get over this bad cold I will take it for a spin outside. Bottom line I think the vortex warranty is top notch & I'm going to buy the SPARC red dot from Vortex it's a 2moa dot which I will put on my AR and I will put this strikefire on my 870 tactical shotgun which I will use for turkey season.

SPARC & Strikefire RedDots

First of all thank you to all of those folks on this thread who have allowed us to help them with their Vortex purchases. We very much appreciate your business and also the kind words.

The Red-Dot products that Vortex is producing are top notch and are backed by an incredible warranty (especially considering the fact that we're dealing with electronics in this case). They will stand behind anything that goes wrong for any reason. It has been our experience that handling the few issues that we have seen with any of their products has been an extremely smooth process.

While both the Strikefire and the newer SPARC are top-notch products (in over a year we have never seen a problem with a Strikefire) the SPARC has a much smaller form factor than the Strikefire and for AR and handgun applications they will likely become the preferred choice. Vortex has just received clearance to export the SPARC to Canada and so there will be units available shortly however like most new things demand is likely to exceed initial supply. As the export permits are approved we are now accepting orders for the SPARC and we hope to begin filling those over the next couple of weeks. We always keep a good supply of Strikefires on hand and will aim to do so with the SPARC as well as the initial interest has been very high. The units can be seen and compared on our site here

Votex red dot question???

Just went to sight in my crossfire vortex 2.5 x10 50mm, but noticed as it was quiet sunny, you can not see the red dot.

Only in low light you can see it. Yes I did try a new battery.

Is the red dot only meant for low light situations??????

Ron, it is important to differentiate between the Strikefire (and SPARC) and the Crossfire scopes.

The crossfire scopes are provided with an illuminated reticle and are not a "red-dot" scope per se. To answer your question they are primarily intended to enhance reticle acquisition in low light situations.

The Strikefire and SPARC are red-dot scopes that are intended to provide an illuminated dot in any lighting situation (they don't have any other form of reticle). As such they provide a variety of intensity settings appropriate for all lighting conditions.

The above being said you should be able to pick up the illuminated crosshair in the Crossfire scope in all but the brightest of conditions.

Hope this helps.

Thanks.

I looked it up on the Vortex website. It mentions for low light situations.

I assumed it was like red dot sights and it is not like that.
