Hi all,

Over the past few years I've owned two Vortex PST 1-4x scopes. My only complaint has been regarding the illumination, and after spending a sunny day on the range without said illumination, I'm rather perturbed. It seems that I have very poor battery performance, necessitating regular battery replacement. For example, in preparation of the shooting season a month ago, I swapped the battery, verified illumination and made sure I turned off the illumination afterward. So when I went to the range yesterday, I discovered that it had failed again. What are other people's experiences? Has anyone tested various brands of batteries to find which works best?

Mine has never really worked, but I don't think it's the battery dying, I think the entire screw cap assembly is garbage. I have it cranked down with a brand new battery in, but it doesn't usually illuminate.
If I press very hard on the cap it might flick on. Love the scope, but mine is non-illuminated reticle.
