Today, I had a quick conversation with Ken from Vortex Canada, and he said that current ETA for the first batch of FFP Gen 2 is late June 2017! Something is not right with Vortex nowadays. They have been rescheduling the delivery for FFP scopes since December 2016, and I know a lot of people have already canceled their pre-orders. What the point to announce a new scope, discontinue the old model and then let potential buyers wait for a couple of months?

American Market Share! I am a Vortex fanboy for a few reasons but issues will start to happen in the coming years.
Lifetime warranty (rob Peter to pay Paul).... to cover the warranty market share and sales must increase...... Now the market share is there next step is to outsource for cheaper MFGing...... at some point market share and cheaper product hit a point of too many scopes need to be fixed vs income..... either they close or a larger company buys them for the market share and limits back the warranty.
To really answer your question is Americans are buying all these up and parts are being slow to assemble to keep up with the demand. Same issue is happening with their "Huey" to rival eo tech after shot shot these are the hottest thing down there right now. I have one of the first on order here and it's been pushed back twice already.

They can only build so many scopes per month, and they have huge pre-orders for scopes that they need to fill first. Secondly, the scope was only launched late January at SHOT SHOW - this is the case with pretty much any new thing announced... And at SHOT, Vortex was straight up with dealers telling them the scopes would only be available starting late April. I was at SHOT - they told nobody any different. And some of the PST Gen II's are already available in the US.

I haven't seen any FFP available yet. Where do you find them? I'm talking about 5-25x50 models. Even in the USA, they are unavailable. OpticsPlanet has pushed back ETA several times already. SFP are available though. I think something is wrong with FFP models as I can't explain why SFP are already hit the shelves and FFP are being delayed for many months.
As for the cars, I think it's a different league. Cars require more testing due to possible life threating issues. Cars are much more complicated. The scopes don't.
I said "some of the PST Gen II's are already available in the US". And "some" are. I also said Vortex were telling dealers at SHOT (that the 5-25x50 FFP's) would only be available late April. So why would we see them in stores in the past 3 months.... Now some people are speculating that "something is not right with Vortex" and "something is wrong with FFP models"?

Thank you for sharing your thoughts and info. I wasn't at the SHOT, so didn't know what Vortex told to the dealers. I know that they discontinued the PST Gen 1 sometime in November/December 2016. The majority of our local Canadian dealers don't offer them for sale for a few months already. Considering, the ETA in Canada is late June, that's a 6 months gap. Quite a lot if you ask me. And I still see no point to discontinue an old model and advertise a new one if the latter is not ready yet.
Foxer2373, very good point. This happens not just with Vortex but with Hornady, for example, as well. I recently spoke with a Hornady representative at Toronto Sportsmen Show and he said that they receive only a small fraction of ammo that they ordered from Hornady USA. If I remember correctly, they ordered more than 100K of 17HMR 20gr and recently received only 5000 boxes. Some people waiting for this ammo since February last year. The demand in USA is just so high, as well as the ammo is made by CCI and they have to manufacture their products as well.
im in the market for a new optic... Ideally I'd like to get this Vortex PST Gen II as I've owned 3 other pst's in the past and one Razor HD gen II. I love vortex products... But I don't want to wait until June to purchase a optic...These will only be available in june for purchase?
Some FFP models and SFP 5-25x50 are available for immediate purchase. FFP model (5-25x50) may be available in the late June according to Vortex Canada. I think as an alternative you may want to check Burris XTR II 5-25x50. It's the same price category but may be a better scope. I compared Burris XTR II with Vortex PST (Gen 1) and the latter lost in every aspect. Though, I expect the Gen 2 to be better than its predecessor, especially in regards to a glass quality.
