Vortex PST gen ll pre-order/interests

I have pre-ordered mine, as much as i am excited i am also down to earth in knowing it's an entry level beginners scope.
I want to take a shot at precision, and don't have the funds for nice apochromatic glass (vortex razor gen ll)
Really hoping here that my main criteria, the turrets, have a really good tracking and always do return to zero when i ask them to.

Got the viper pst gen ll FFP 5-25x50 mrad pre-ordered at grouse river.
Anyone else got on the pre-order?
Got some articles or reviews (good and bad) to share of people trying out the viper pst gen lls?

I wouldn't call this a 'beginners scope'. Unless you've seen blurry no-name or low budget scopes I'd say it's mid-range stuff.

My eyes suck and I can see crystal clear out of my buddy's PST (Gen 1). Pretty good stuff for the money, but he got his on a model year end discount. That said, I haven't seen any higher end stuff to compare it to. Don't have the scratch, so no sense even looking at it.

My friend's PST is listed as "Made in the Philippines".
 
At that price point, very likely made in philippines.
st1264, i have diamondback scopes and love em. They hold zero. But i am not shooting far with them and always shoot from zero.
I have a feeling, viper PSTs, are beginner scopes if intended to be used past 500 and always cranking elevation up and down between firing solutions.
Always comes down to what you are doing with them. If i were shooting always at 100/200, it could be more scope than what i need

I've been thinking about the Diamondback scopes, but I hear the glass isn't that good (and my eyes are tricky with my high index glasses)... also thinking about the Diamondback Tactical and HP models since they have the upgraded XD glass w/XR coatings. All I know is that the PST glass is very good, even I can see clearly with it.

I don't know what upgrades Vortex did to the PST II over the Gen I.

The clearest 400$ budget scope i have ever seen
Didnt play with tracking, zero'ed it when i got it, holds zero very well (only 22 afterall)

Diamondback tactical will start comming (or already have) around the time pst gen lls come out
Id stick with a diamondback hp, as i wouldnt trust turrets on the tactical for tracking, and they lost the side parallax

Okay, you do have the better glass then. I've been considering the Viper HS and DB HP as they have the better glass and 44mm and 42mm objective. Due to my vision, the larger the objective, the better for me. A 50mm objective lens would be even better. Those don't come cheap though, with good glass.
 
Hummm... I would be curious to see it compare to the Burris XTR 2 3-15X50...

I want to know who is best between the two.

For burris xtr ll 5-25x50 exact same price as pst gen ll 5-25x50

Even if others also offer lifetime no bs warranty, im pretty much sold to vortex because i know they respect it
Seen too many "lifetime no bs warranties" filled with b.s. In my lifetime
 
Just checked the price on these. Im not an expert but I would prefer going with something tried and true like a sightron S3 with even more magnification in 8-32 or a 6-24. I never owned a vortex product other then some very average scope rings but im not sure I would trust a new product like this especially when you can read so many people having to deal with their warranty service. Just my 0.02
 
I don't have the stats and i may be wrong, but around here anyways, vortex is hugely popular.
So like cars, if ford sells twice as many cars as a competitor it's sure there will be more that will come back on warranty.

Not looking to defend vortex btw, i purchased knowing it wasn't the most superior product in my price range.
Just having a warranty center in country, i know that my wallet will not be left out in the red if something happens, comes time to resell i'll easily get 80% of it's value because people know how easy they are to switch.

If my budget was 3500$, there would be better choices than razor gen ll, but would probably end up with the razor
 
They look good but I'm dissapointed they went from a 50mm objective to 44mm for the 3-15x model. Any idea if I'll be forced to switch to the gen 2 if my PST ever breaks, or will they keep a supply of Gen 1's for warranties?

But i have bailed out of my preorder
No viper pst here

Edit: read on forums that gen l going discontinued, don't know how real it is
