How does everyone feel about the reliability of the Vortex PST scopes?

I have a 6-24x50 that I got used, and had to send in for repairs. My buddy also had to send his PST 6-24x50 in for repairs.
That's a 100% failure rate out of the people I know with this scope.

I get their warranty is great, but it's still a hassle, and there's always downtime, with sending them back for repairs.

this is the reason I went for something else.

Too many internet reports of problems. I don't get the point of owning a nice piece of equipment if it needs to be sent in for repair every once in a while.

I've had one on my 300 RUM for 1300 rounds. Most shots at long range so lots of dialing. Never had a single problem with it. Maybe I am one of the lucky ones I don't know. Glass is not great however. There are better options out there in the same price class.

Never had an issue with mine. Sits atop my 308 that has gone boom many hundreds of times and has never once had an issue. In fact, I've since sold all my other scopes and switched all to vortex for their reliability, affordability and unmatched warranty. Biased through experience I suppose. I'd be interested to hear what issues you and your friend ran into.

I have 3 Vortex scopes and have never had an issue with them. They range in age from 5 to 1 year old.Have seen a lot of shooting time on all of them.

i had one viper pst that went into service.

My FFP is doing ok

It's been hit and miss among my friends for the viper line, experiences on both sides of the fence. Most of the serious issues seem to be with newer ones (reticle twisting, bad focus, bad dials).

With odds like that im almost tempted to say its user error and not sure a razor is the key to the solution. IMO

I guess that the 2 times my illumination did not work is a user error.
I also guess that the parallax knob free turning from a BNIB scope is also user error.

That leaves it to the last 2... Tracking not working on one ( way off on a tracking test. MIL@100m ) and the reticle canting and coming loose as you turn the mag ring on the other one. Probably user error.

I shot in many international comps. I know better. But I have to say that I was not lucky for sure. Probably on the lowest part of the probability bell curve.

P.S. Yes a Razor is a totally different machine. I forgot to note that all my issues where with the PST line.

I've never shot a box test but maybe I should. But as I said earlier 1300 rounds out of a 300 RUM from 100 to 1000 yds. Returns back to 200 yd zero every time. Scope is always on at 500, 700, 900 etc. This thing has been dialed a lot! It is definately not like my NF but not everyone wants to spend $2000 plus on a scope.

I have one Sparc and one PST

But have issues with the electronics. The glass is fine in the PST though and I dont need illumination in that setup so I keep using it.

4-16 PST was a dud right out of the box, Vortex replaced it and I sold it immediately and bought something else. My old Viper (circa 2007, probably one of the first people on this board to buy a Vortex scope) was solid.. I recently sold it mostly to try something else and partly because of the extremely short eye relief.

2 friends bought Diamondbacks and there were problems with both.

Gen 2 Razor is about the only Vortex scope that I have any interest in currently.
