Vortex pst

The pst's have a nice feature set, but the glass is just merely okay, certainly not outstanding. I've got a 4-16 pst on my mdt chassis .308.
The sightron's I've looked through at the $700-$1000 range are much nicer optically.
I'll probably go that route next time.

Anyone know what the different between the PST and the HS is (in the 1-4x)?

Also does anyone else find the reticle moa marks really hard to see? Like tiny and dim, even lit up?

The manual for my PST suggest that there is an HS, but I didn't think there was either so I Googled it and a bunch of listings came up for it. None of them could explain the difference, though the HS ones seemed to be $100 cheaper.

Well, generally speaking, the HS line has capped turrets (unless it's the Long Range HS models), 1/2 moa clicks (versus 1/4moa), less elevation, and none of the HS units have illuminated reticles.

edit.. I see on the vortex canada website the 1-4x Viper HS is illuminated and almost identical to the PST model other than the amount of elevation/windage

Like the GAP G2 in thier new HDMR scope:

If you thinking of the vortex PST i would pick one up asap, it looks like some of the prices have gone up on the vortex optics (US site) and i am sure that will translate into a cost increase for us in Canada.

edit: looking at vortex canada site, seems they have already increased the prices, although i can see that most dealers have not increased theirs.`
