I've been looking for a rangefinder for a while now and am giving serious thought to the Ranger 1000 or the Ranger 1500. The 1500 replaces the 1000 and is going to be available in Canada shortly. What I ask from the wealth of knowledge in this group is, what are the thoughts of these rangefingers?

Thanks in advance.

I have the 1000. Got it last year. I am happy with it. I only target shoot and it has been reliable for me. Longest I ranged with it was 1047 yds from my backyard to another house. I can range my 8" gongs quite easily.

Hey EMT worker,

I actually got to test one out at the store and with the 1500, Vortex programmed it to speed up the ranging, so it is actually faster now. The farthest object I ranged was around 800 yards and it gave me a pretty fast reading given the distance. I wasn't able to range any animals, as I was at our retail location, but I tried it against some different range finders on buildings and such and I found it was pretty consistent next to the others I was comparing to (being Leica and Leupold). Just thought I would share some experience I had with it. We do have them in stock, so if you want to check it out on our website here.

Hello EMT Worker

As a former employee of a hunting store, Votrex Canada would send a Rep with stuff such as the rangefinder for us to test out. The Ranger 1000 is accurate 10-1000 yards or meters. Compared to Bushnell or Leupold rangefinders the Ranger 1000 is slower on the readout. As in there is a delay of information showing but its the difference of 1-2 secs. It is more accurate then the Bushnell 1000, 1200. Equal to the Leupold in accuracy while the Leupold is faster in the Display.
I hope that made sense. Personally I bought a Range 1000, its great, works for the small Saskatoon range.

Thanks for the info. Dantonamo. I think I'm going to get the 1500. The speed is a little quicker than the Ranger 1000.
