Vortex razor HD 4.5x27 56. Don't tell my wife

Where did you get it? I finally settled on the same scope, tried to order it on the phone today from a sight sponsor and they said no thanks. Couldn't believe it, finally got the balls to drop $3000 plus dollars on a scope and they brush me off. Not interested in taking orders on the phone? I didn't want to do it online because of the wife would see it. I guess I need bigger balls.
Nice choice, how long did it finally take you to decide on Vortex? Me about 3 months.

I got mine from P&D.

Anyone know of a shop with a 4.5-27 EBR-2C MRAD in stock? PM me if you do. Been phoning around with no success.

Cheers

Well, I managed to get away to P&D yesterday for a few minutes and jaw a look at scopes. They had a few of the Razor HD Gen 2 scopes hanging around. 2 of the 3-18x50's, 1 in MOA, the other MRAD. The third a 4.5-27x56 EBR 1C MRAD. It was nice because they also had the Leupold Mark 6 3-18x44, Bushenell ERS 3.5-21x50 G2DMR and Various Nightforce models hanging around. Pulled as much on to the counter as I could and played around with them all. I currently run Nightforce on most of my firearms. It was nice to have pretty much everything I was interested in around. I compared turrets, glass, reticle designs, illumination and extra features, what did one scope have that another didn't, so on and so forth. In the end, I ended up buying the Vortex Razor HD Gen 2 3-18x50 EBR-2C MRAD. It was still listed at the 2014 price which was a bonus. It had all the features I was looking for and then some. It will be a good fit for my TRG 22.

I must admit I was skeptical of these scopes at first, but everything I've read online gave me a good impression. When I got to compare it side by side with the other scopes, it was a clear winner for me. I would have liked a ATACR F1 to have been available, but they're still a couple months off from being up here.

If you're on the fence about one of these, don't be. They were very impressive and should not be held into the same relation as other Vortex products. These are in a class of their own. Here are the features I was impressed with:

-Crisp clicks on the turrets
-Turret lock was very firm, but easy to use
-F1 EBR-2C MRAD reticle was simple and uncluttered for a Christmas tree
-Locking illumination ring
-Zero stop was very solid
-Glass was EVERY bit on par with the Nightforce and nicer than the Leupold
-Infinite Zero, this was the clincher, no more being half a click off

When I order up the Spuhr TRG mount for it and get to the range I will do an amateur field report and review. This will not be for a few month as I have a 3 month old at home and am enjoying every minute with him I can. I think this combination will work well with my rifle and I look forward to trying some of the local PRS type matches when I get the chance.

Cheers

Nice choice. I have the Razor Gen II 4.5-27x56 in a Spuhr mount on my TRG42. It replaced a S&B PMII 3-20x50 and I'm not missing the S&B :)

TFunfer,

I am just ordering up the Spuhr mount for my TRG-22 to use with my new Vortex. How do you like yours? Which model did you end up going with? I'm gonna run the ST-4701 TRG direct mount.

Cheers

$3000 retail

Except in Calgary, where a certain shop is advertising it for ONLY $3830 plus tax.... And no KY Gel even...

I called a few dealers in Calgary for a quote on some scopes(Kahles and Steiner)... never again. That said TSE has very fair Nightforce pricing so it's not all bad. If your looking at a scope in that price range take a good look at Wolverines pricing on SB right now, better than a lot of US dealers from what I've seen.
