Well, I managed to get away to P&D yesterday for a few minutes and jaw a look at scopes. They had a few of the Razor HD Gen 2 scopes hanging around. 2 of the 3-18x50's, 1 in MOA, the other MRAD. The third a 4.5-27x56 EBR 1C MRAD. It was nice because they also had the Leupold Mark 6 3-18x44, Bushenell ERS 3.5-21x50 G2DMR and Various Nightforce models hanging around. Pulled as much on to the counter as I could and played around with them all. I currently run Nightforce on most of my firearms. It was nice to have pretty much everything I was interested in around. I compared turrets, glass, reticle designs, illumination and extra features, what did one scope have that another didn't, so on and so forth. In the end, I ended up buying the Vortex Razor HD Gen 2 3-18x50 EBR-2C MRAD. It was still listed at the 2014 price which was a bonus. It had all the features I was looking for and then some. It will be a good fit for my TRG 22.
I must admit I was skeptical of these scopes at first, but everything I've read online gave me a good impression. When I got to compare it side by side with the other scopes, it was a clear winner for me. I would have liked a ATACR F1 to have been available, but they're still a couple months off from being up here.
If you're on the fence about one of these, don't be. They were very impressive and should not be held into the same relation as other Vortex products. These are in a class of their own. Here are the features I was impressed with:
-Crisp clicks on the turrets
-Turret lock was very firm, but easy to use
-F1 EBR-2C MRAD reticle was simple and uncluttered for a Christmas tree
-Locking illumination ring
-Zero stop was very solid
-Glass was EVERY bit on par with the Nightforce and nicer than the Leupold
-Infinite Zero, this was the clincher, no more being half a click off
When I order up the Spuhr TRG mount for it and get to the range I will do an amateur field report and review. This will not be for a few month as I have a 3 month old at home and am enjoying every minute with him I can. I think this combination will work well with my rifle and I look forward to trying some of the local PRS type matches when I get the chance.
Cheers
