Vortex Razor HD 5-20x50

my sparc came with a broken strap on the bikini cover. i phoned their cs and was told that i was sol. makes me wonder about purchasing the pst ffp.

Did you call the Canadian Distributor? They are the ones who handle all warranty in Canada. I would try them again, ask for Ken or Paul. I am sure they will take care of your situation.

Yeah vortex has always been good to me for customer stuff. Effed up my Razor binos last season and they had things sorted out within 5 days of picking up the phone.

But DO make sure its Vortex Canada you're talking to.

I had the razor at the range today and it was awesome. I just have it on a 22-250 right now but the glass is great. I would put this scope up against any nightforce or mark 4 anytime!!!

I just put the Razor on my RFB. Some might say it's overkill. I'd agree.:D

I would also be interested in your findings please be sure to start a new thread on this subject.

Had mine out to the range today nad ran it through its paces.
Here are MY opinions, these are OPINIONS only.
Compared to a 5.5x22x56 NXS being used for direct comparison purposes only on a similar rifle, same caliber.

Optical clarity to my eyes about the same, the 4 others who were shooting with me also felt that they were extremely close. I found the colors from the NF were better for my eye, 3 other felt that the Razor had better color definition.

Repeatability ROCK solid. Box tested both repeatedly and both track 100%

The Razor has bigger knobs that may be necessary, I am used to the NF.
The Razors zero stop is a bit more user friendly but the instructions suck. Once figured out it works very well.

The Razor being FFP can take some getting used to as the reticle changes in size with magnification, as it is supposed to, but I found at low magnification the reticle was hard to distinguish and at max the target was covered.

Overall the Razor seems to be a great optic, and performs very well but being so used to the NF 2nd FFP scopes with the R2 reticle I will most likely remount my old NF on my rifle.

Vortex razor

I purchased one from a gent in Calgary with the rings for around $700 less than retail and it was brand new, the warranty these guys offer is awesome, I should never need to buy another scope. Looking forward to putting it on my savage 110ba in 338LM.

I like your review, honest and fair...almost (comparing the FFP Razor to the SFP NXS). I understand what you mean about the FFP reticle on the Razor, mine is the same (my scope and my opinion!) I don't think the Razor with the FFP was truly intended for a civilian scope, probably more intended for law enforcement and military as a sniper optic. So punching paper at extreme ranges is not it's fortay. I think though, and I would like your opinion on this, IF the Razor had a SFP reticle, and IF the Razor had let's say 32X on the top end of it's magnification range, I thinnk that would make it a pretty hard piece of kit to beat. Am I right?:)
