I've had one for a few years and absolutely love it. FOV, glass quality, eye box, eye relief etc are amazing especially considering the weight. As you've touched on the turrets don't have the best feeling and the zero stop cuts down on your total elevation. Not a problem for distances you hunt at but if you're someone like me who also wants to shoot out to 1000y you can't dial all of it with the zero stop in place.

I have the moa version. It's fine. Glass is good. Haven't really shot it a lot. Can't decide if i want to keep it or not. Kind of waiting for the rest of my rifle to be put together to see if I like it or not. I think i like my vx3hd better at the minute.
I just looked into the zero stop limiting the adjustment. I'm looking at 1000 yards shots as well, so I'm glad you mentioned that. The video by Vortex (https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=nsfnGxLXyGY) on this subject and another article at gunsandammo.com say that you get two full rotations with the zero stop in place. The travel per rotation is 6 MRAD, so that gives you 12 MRAD total. Digging deeper, it looks like you get more like 95% of that, so 11.4 MRAD. That should still get a .308 out to 1000 yards according to a ballistics calculator, although it's marginal. I don't have a 20 MOA rail so I'd only have access to about half of the scope's 23 MRAD elevation adjustment anyway. If I run out of adjustment I'd have to install a 20 MOA rail and remove the zero stop, and I just noticed that there isn't a rotation indicator on the elevation turret, so there would be room for error in returning to zero. It would be a bit of a gamble to see if I could squeak by with the elevation adjustment and use the zero stop.
I checked this scope out in a store the other day. The illumination button didn't seem great to me. I had to look at the manual when I got home to see how it was supposed to work. There are 10 illumination settings, and my understanding is that if you were on setting 2 and wanted to go down to 1, you'd have to press the button 8 times to increase to the max of 10, after which the reticle blinks and the direction changes, then you'd press the button 9 more times to get down to 10. So that's 17 button pushes to go from 2 to 1! Also, you have to be watching the reticle to see it changing, so that means if you were finding level 2 too bright at dusk, then you'd have to subject your eye to the max brightness before you could reduce the illumination.
