I have a 1-4 Razor HD sitting atop my JP Competition AR. The gun does not recoil. I mean this thing is the shoftest shooting AR I've ever shot.

I put 120 rounds yesterday at my range and Holy s**t! The reticle shifted conter clockwise about 10 degrees. So I start making sure the mount is nice ang tight and of course the scope hasnt rotated in the mount and no (Its a Spurh mount probably the best in the world) everything is pefectly level.

So thats a 1500$ scope with illumination that blinks under very light recoil and now a reticle thats 10-15 degrees off... WTF?

anybody else have s**t like this happen? Not even sure I want it back after they fix it.

Well atleast you have the Vortex warranty and I know from experience that it is hastle free as Ive had to use it on three different Vortex scopes, none of which where in the price range of the Razor but still very frustrating. Great to have a company that offers such an iron clad warranty but the fact I had to use it 3 seperate times has stopped me from putting anything Vortex on any of my rigs.

Ok but it sort of shows a pattern of poorly built optics. If I'm shooting a match I expect my stuff to work. Sure stuff breaks during competitions but still, can I really trust this optic?

Yes I totally agree, just saying I too had issues and that is why I do not use them anymore. What I was trying to state in a possitive way was to ensure you that atleast from there customer service side you will be compensated hastle free and in a quick fasion, atleast I was. What you decide to do from there is up to you. They sent myself "new" replacements which I then sold and invested my money in other brands.

This is the reason I will always recommend Nightforce, Premier Reticles, USO, S&B... These brands are all workhorses tested and proven.

Don't get me wrong, I'm not trying to rub it in your face. Im just saying I have also learned the hard way and it sucks.

Buy once, cry once!

That is why I dont sell Vortex.

Sightron for me and their SIII1-7 is a gem for 2/3's the price you paid. Likely better optics too.....

One thing that is not in dispute is the support Vortex will give you for your scope.

Now all we need is for Sightron to put a more appropriate tactical reticle in there, and I'm sold...

:agree:
Unfortunately those premium optics are not affordable for me. With all that hoopla with Vortex I was thinking to replace some of my scopes but I better stick to my tried and true made in USA; Weavers, Redfields and Burrises.

Seems like the only thing Vortex has to offer is a good warrnty program. Their entry level stuff is great but the $800 and up isnt worth it after hearing so many horror stories.

Pricing is in that link. Been super busy this summer and hopefully find some time to update the website and other places in Oct.

Send me a PM or email. Not supposed to discuss pricing on the open forum

contact cgn member crashman hes the eastern canadian sales agent for vortex, he spends alot of time of here promoting vortex so im sure he will be along any moment to comment.

Vortex is just another cheap scope priced high with some good marketing

Dealers push the product the make the most profit on.

All these scopes look the same. They are all pumped out of the same factory.

Vortex was the flavour of the year. Last year everybody wanted Falcon...next year? Another manufacturer will come along with the same crappy scopes but with the 'We are Built Better' and 'Built for Operators' Marketing and suck people in.

FWIW, I've had ZERO issues with the 1-4 Viper PST scope I have on my RFB - very pleasantly surprised by it. Normally I buy Leupold VXIII or better. Maybe others have had bad experiences, but so far my Vortex has been brighter, clearer and with more features than my Leupolds in the same magnification range. YMMV.
