Vortex scopes

I have had a couple of Burris FF-II's that have really been put through the paces. Both were rock-solid reliable with very decent optical quality for the price. Both were made in the Phillipines.
Folks who refuse to recognize that decent optics with top-notch warranties are currently being produced in Asia are delusional.
And yes I own plenty of Leupolds. ;)

My FFII's also compete very favourably with the Viper and Conquest for resolution and low-light performance. The tracking and "toughness" of the FFII's should't be ignored, either.
 
I had opportunity to check out a Viper PST 4-16X50 today. Yup, actually put my paws on it. All I can say after that brief encounter is - WOW! The turrets feel absolutely perfect. Nice tight, solid, tactile clicks with no play or wiggly wobbly action going on. The image clarity looks fantstic to my eyes. The MOA reticle is fine enough for some serious precision work and appears very sharp. The illumination works well. The detents at several different zoom settings are a nice, unexpected touch.
Unfortunately the 6-24X50 FFP I'm after won't be available for another month or so, but if it tracks as well as my 6-24X50 Crossfire it'll be a keeper.

I think Vortex has put a lot of attention to detail into these scopes and it shows.w:h:

You'll have to let me know what the 6-24x50 is like when you get your hands on one. I'm still heavily considering one for my Middlestead if I don't find a way to justify another Nightforce.

You betcha. I'll give it a good gruelling tracking / return to zero test and post a little review thread.
From what I've seen of the Vortex PST and Nightforce, you'll really have a hard time trying to justify the NF once you've seen the PST.

I need a chance to compare a PST to the NXS and VXIII I already have.. I'll take your word on tracking, but I need to see the glass..

How many have you used and what scopes have you compared them to? What rifles have you used them on? (airsoft not included)

Just wondering, cause I've talked to a few guys in the US using them and they are thrilled with the quality.

These are guys who have used NF, S&B, US Optics etc. so they have a little understanding of quality.

Where did I say this was a problem or where did I say I have a problem with Vortex?

I simply stated that one line when it first came out used to be made in Japan and now it doesn't.

I think you might need to switch to decaf....

As for Vortex optics I've used everything from the Strikefire RDS to Crossfire scopes to the Viper scopes. Haven't had a chance to try out the higher ones (Razors).

As for firearms Ive used them on, everything from Bushmasters firing .223 to bolt rifles in .223 to bolt rifles in .308 and up to 7mm Remington Magnum and .308 Norma Magnum.
 
I have had a Viper PST 6-24x50 FFP MIL MIL on order for 7 months. I can't wait to get my hands on it. Hopefully by spring. I guess vortex doesn't want to disappoint but it sure would be nice to know how big the backlog of orders is and when the plan on starting shipping, or if they have started shipping I would love to here from anyone who has received one.

I'll post as soon as mine comes in.

Yeah I'm a pretty patient person but I'm getting pretty tired of being BSd on the delivery date. I ordered the 6-24X50 FFP MOA back in Sept when they were due in any day. Then the big delay/redesign/retool pushed the ETA back to end of Dec beginning of Jan. Then Jan rolls around and "Oh, they won't be in for a couple more weeks." Mid Jan comes and goes. The 4-16X50 shows up and it looks sweet, but the high power FFP models won't be in 'til mid Feb. Mid Feb comes and goes so I ask again and now I'm told "Mar 10 there will be more scopes arriving in Canada."

So let me guess... the 6-20X50 will be in some time in Mar, followed the 4-16X50 FFP a month and a half later, and maybe, just maybe, sometime a month or two after that, I might see the scope I was told I would have by the first week of Jan. ARRRGH:bangHead:f:P:

At this rate Sightron could have a FFP scope out before Vortex does.

Rant mode off. Glad I got that off my chest.
 
I think they are getting a shipment of Vortex scopes into the country tomorrow and another early March. I can't tell you want exactly is on it except that some of my Vortex scopes are on the shipment...just not sure which ones as of yet.
 
They told me the same thing yesterday as well. On that note the rest of our Vortex scopes are supposed to arrive today so there should be a pretty good selection of them available on the website next week.
