Vortex sparc 2???

It sounds like you might have an astigmatism in your eye, if that is the case there is nothing wrong with the red dot. That kind of symptom is common for people with issues with their eyes.

OR, maybe the illumination is too high.

^^^what he said, only many people with otherwise average vision may have astigmatism and not know it.

If you have astigmatism you'll need to use a prism sight like a Burris AR-332 or the Vortex Spitfire.

In low light it will be more "blurry" then outside in bright light... brighter ambient lighting the sharper the dot will appear.

Another option for those with astigmatism, set up your backup rear iron sight's aperture so you can see your dot through it. The diopter effect will sharpen the dot up for longer shots. Then stow your rear sight for close range.

Another quick question. I purchased the Vortex® VMX-3T Magnifier. I was wondering how the eye relief on the sparc will work once the magnifier is flipped out of the way?

Eye relief will be fine, a bit of starburst is no big deal. You can take a picture of the dot if you want to check your eyes.

Yup, astigmatism. Ask me how I know... Mine is giving me more of a "radiating" ellipse or line rather than a starburst effect.

Hum... Before getting checked for astigmatism, ... maybe clean both side of the lens and try again ;)

I uses the smallest dot available in given holographic optics to reduce the effect.
