Anyone have any experiencence with this red dot ?

I have one on a picatinny rail as its designed for. Its fully tightenwd on but can still be moved forward and back slightly within the rail slot. This is with both high and low mount configs.

This cant be the way it was designed can it ? Moving like that must wreck the zero... maybe I'm wrong, this is the first red dot ive used outside of an EOTech.

Any tips appreciated, thanks.

Is there a torque spec? Most mounts if not all will have wiggle room in the slot. Align the mount to the forward part of the slot and tighten it down. Once tighten, it should not move.

Hmm ill try that, it seems to move forward and back a quarter inch almost, it doesnt seem right at all. Its not just the rail mount on my rifle either, it does the same on the 2 small rails that came with it.

Isn't the largest block meant only to go into the skinniest base piece, not a picatinny??

Either way, if SHOULD NOT be sliding around. Is it possible that your rail is out of spec??

Contact Vortex, I bet they'll make it right.

It moves on the small 4 slot rails that came with the optic in the box also. I have other stuff on the rail no problem so its not that. I must be doing something wrong or have the wrong mount on or something..

Someone else said they have the same issue

Okay Ive isolated the issue at least. I switched to another rifle (xcr-l) and there is no issue, so the rail is out of spec.

The problem rail is from FAB Defense I bought from Zahal, specifically for the vz58.

I guess I'm screwed, unless someone on here knows some magic tricks with snugging up rails.

Punt it right back to them. You paid for a quality product, and you deserve it.

Beer can Shims.

It is truly amazing that rails are still not standardized.

Beer can shims?

I doubt theyd take it back - I even had to take a file to parts of it (top mount) to even get it to fit in the first place. Best I can hope for is an angry letter and discounted items in the future at best.

Zahal.org, buyer beware.

There is a standard spec for picatinny rails, but that doesn't mean that
All manufacturers follow it.

Yes.
That was my point.
If your going to make a rail today..... why not go with a standard dimension?
Picatinny,MIL-STD-1913 rail, Standardization Agreement 2324 rail, call it what you want.....they are all the same thing........now just standardize the industry.

Ensure to you are using the proper screws for which ever one of the 3 different mounting options you have chosen.

Ahh interesting - there were alot of other screws - they seemed all identical I figured they were just spares. Ill check that out.

Also the beer can shim - i looked it up, that could work - thanks for the idea!
