A little difficult to "force" manufacturers to follow the spec. I prefer to buy quality goods, not low end junk that is likely not to spec.

All 3 sets of screws only work on their designated mount if they are not in the assigned mount this may cause you some slop
Are we sure it's a picatinny rail and not a weaver ? I'm late to this discussion so don't crucify me
I have 3 sparc 2 and two other vortex units , fit perfect. , not to say they aren't capable of having a bad one, but I've had experiences with weaver rails before, they are not the same size as picatinny

Can someone who knows explain the difference...??? I've been wondering the same thing.
If everyone bought quality goods there wouldn't be issues or threads about optics not fitting.
Good call Aragorn, it is from Israel after all so it may indeed be a weaver rail. I cant remember if it specified a difference.
I didnt think the industry was dumb enough to not have a universal mounting system (at first glance they look the same) but, here we are..
Havnt tried the screws yet but I do have a red bull can on standby for a shim operation.

Specially if the industry standardized all the rails...
It's a free market and companies can either offer in spec quality goods or not. It's up to the buyer to do their homework.

Had exactly the same issue with mine.
Tried to mount it to a BC Tactical Scout Mount installed on my VZ58. The low mount would not snug up on the rail and while the high mount was a much better fit it, it was still not able to tighten up as much as it should.
I definitely need to contact Vortex. The Sparc II has never been used and just sits in the corner now. Was never sure if the mount or the rail installed was the problem...

You did suggest the industry "standardize" on a spec. The only way to do that would be to FORCE manufacturers to adhere to a spec. Can't really do that in a free country with a free market economy. So your suggestion is of little merit.. Just saying. The easy answer is to not buy cheap crap that is either of questionable spec or known to be out of spec.

It's more of a wish then a suggestion. I also wish I didn't need as many screwdrivers and wrenches of all types to fix things but what's a guy to do?
Not sure why its turned into a discussion on the merits of quality?
There are plenty of quality manufacturers that build products to their own unique specs rather then use a common standard..... Pistol rails for example.
