Hey,
I'm going to be picking up my first M14 from a friend soon and I've been looking into optics for it.

This is gonna be a deer rifle mostly (100 yards max I think) so I want something small and light weight. All I could find in a $250 price range of low power optics was the Vortex sparc. I wanted a fixed, 3 power, compact scope but couldn't find anything inside my budget so I'm thinking about the sparc as it has a 2x magnifier on it.

Have any of you guys run this optic on your M14's? Will it hold up? (I wont be rocking 1000 rounds a year through it or anything).

Any advice, or suggestions on other products to look in to would be great! Any good or bad experiences with the sparc on a .308 would really help me out.

Thanks a lot guys! :D

I fully support Vortex products. I have a Strikefire on my cz858 and it hasn't moved a millimeter ever. Holds zero and is great as a sight for a deer rifle (I use my cz858 for that.).

I haven't mounted it on my m14 (I am waiting on a scope mount and rings), but I don't see why a SPARC wouldn't hold up. Seems pretty solid! (Or look in to a strikefire, since it comes with the 2X magnifier as well).

As for a scope, are you SURE you can't find anything? Look through the EE. I mean, I sold a bushnell 3200 variable power for like... $130 or something around there a while back. Things show up at good prices!

Just be patient!

I have a shorty m14 with UTG rail and use the Sparc on it. It holds zero still after 100's of rounds and is pretty accurate.
