Vortex Sparc

I bought a SPARC for my XCR and am very happy with it. I can't see a problem with getting it bright enough to use with snow on the ground.

Is the sparc worth the extra money instead of just getting the strikefire? I am torn between the two and cant decide which to get. I dont see myself engaging targets past 150 meters though. Any advice is helpful as I have never owned a red dot befor.

I just mounted mine on my Beretta CX4 Storm. Sight co-witnesses nicely using the medium mount. I bought mine from Grouse River Outfitters. Very quick service and delivery.

I will post more in the Black Rifle Section after tomorrows range work. Sight didn't take long to get sighted in for 25 yards and tomorrow I'll extend out to 50 yards.

I installed the Sparc on my new CX 4 Storm 9MM. Other than the lens covers broke the firt time I used them the sight itself is excellent. Co-witnesses, from a bench shots stay within one inch at 50 yards using a variety of reloads, so I am happy with the sight. We shall see how it performs over the fall and winter. Reviews speak highly of it. I think it provides good value for the money.

The Sparc will not...the body is too high, even with the lowest mount.
Another problem is that the dot projector inside the tube blocks the 6 o'clock position inside the tube...the 'projector' in the TRS is out of the way at the 4 o'clock spot.
The TRS-25 provides perfect co-witness with the irons on the CQB...
I have an Aimpoint H/T-1 on my CQB, with the stock mount, and it provides the same sight picture as the TRS-25.

Interesting - that's about the perfect reply I could have ever asked for

Next, is the TRS-25 worth the savings? I don't forsee myself selling this gun ever and I see the advantage of buying right the first time, but for the price of the TRS-25 it could be a good testing unit.

thanks for the help

If you're asking....I would suggest an H-1 or T-1 instead of the TRS.
If you've spent the $ on the CQB, it deserves a quality optic.
People have no issue with spending 1.5 - 2X the $ value of a bolt gun on the optic that resides on top of it.
I'm happy to use the TRS on my VZ's...both 7.62 and 5.56...a good, quality optic that works well...
On all of my other units....AR's, Swiss Arms CQB and Carbine...it's Aimpoint all the way.
Just my $0.02 worth.....

You are right about the 1.5x on a scope
For a bolt gun, but what needs to be looked at
Here is the fact that there's no magnification.
I would have a hard time spending the
Close to 1 G note on a red dot.
Ie aimpoint. Is it really worth it?
Imho for a "scope" yes, for a red dot for
90% for guys a $300 red dot will work
Well.

You can pick up a used Aimpoint H-1 in the EE for $500 or so.
That doesn't seem so 'excessive' if you have already spent the better part of $3M on a Swiss Arms CQB....
