Rally guy, not sure where you went.... but Vortex stands behind their products.
If it breaks because you are out hunting in minus 41deg Celsius you will still be covered......maybe tell them it was -40C if they ask....
Spare battery is always a good idea regardless of temperature and if it's damn cold keep it close to the body.
...i keep mine in my underpants...that way no one asks to borrow my rifle as well!
and as for the flip-up irons...great idea!
