Vortex Talon HD

I just purchased a pair and I am impressed. They are really clear. Great glass. The only thing for me is I bought them for hunting and they are a little big to carry around with all of my other gear.

I have the 8X42 Viper HD and I love them. Really great glass and for the life of me I cannot see a difference between them, swarovski and zeiss. I do a lot of walking and prefer he smaller lighter binoculars with the 8x. I recommend the Vortex HD Series, but the other series are substandard to me.

^ track, the Viper HD is on my evaluation list. I'm looking at 10x42 Roof Prism binos; my list includes Vortex Talon, Vortex Viper HD, Bushnell Elite, Steiner Predator, Nikon Monarch 7.

The Nikon Monarch 7 and Bushnell Elite are $150 less then the Vortex Viper.

I'm leaning toward the Monarch 7 and Vipers.

Oh yeah, current binos are an old pair of Bushnell Trophy 10x42's (which I like). But they're getting a bit long in the tooth...

I meant bulky. I have the 10x42. I also have the harness. We just had a lot of stuff this turkey season. We just had too much stuff Chairs, blinds, decoys etc.

I've been shopping for a 'mid-priced' bino; somewhere in the $600-$700 dollar range.

I checked the Viper Vortex HD and really like them.
Didn't like the Vortex Talon so much.
Wasn't as impressed with Steiner as I thought I'd be.
Heard nothing but bad stuff about Nikon...
Loved the Cabelas Euro & Euro HD.
Like Minox.
Didn't like Bushnell Elite...
Didn't like Leupold..
I like the Weaver Grand Slam, but it's only $430 so "it can't be any good..."

I found a Pentax DCF SP, in 8x43 and was really impressed with them. So I did more research on the Pentax and ended up buying... drum roll please...

Pentax DCF ED 10x50.

Looking forward to getting them and taking them hunting!

Btw, best selection of binos I found, in Edmonton, was at Cabelas. They don't have Vortex (but will be carrying them soon), but I was able to look at those at WSS. But Cabelas had Cabelas(Meopta), Steiner, Minox, Leupold, Zeiss, Kowa, Swarovski, Leica, Bushnell, Weaver and some other brands that I'm forgetting...

Purchased a set of the Vortex Talon HD 10x42 about a month ago, love them so far! Very crisp and clear image, fit me well, easy to carry. Had a hard time explaining to my wife that $500 binoculars are NOT expensive ones.
