Vortex Venom or Burris Fastfire 3 for P226 9mm ?

Just some info-----if your using an aluminum base, don't use your torque screwdriver! Steel base, no problem. (ask me how I know.........)

I would say the opposite! If you're screwing a metal bolt into aluminum threads, *definitely* use a torque screwdriver. It will keep you from putting too much force when turning and will save you from stripping the threads! Set the torque nice and low.

The metal-on-metal screw/threads of the Cadex mount (the part that holds the dovetail part firm) I used 12 in/lbs of torque. With the metal screws that hold the red dot to the aluminum mount, I used (I believe) 5 in/lbs.

Once I test fire it to make sure it's in ballpark range, I'll remove them and put them back in with some Loctite 242. Those screws don't have to be overly firm - there's 4 posts on the corners of the mount that go into the red dot that hold it firmly in place as far as front/back and side/side. Those screws are just there to keep it from popping off the top, of which there's minimal force pushing that way.

Anyway, to make a long comment short (oops, too late) - I'd always suggest using a torque screwdriver on a low setting when screwing steel into a softer alloy. It's too easy doing it just by hand to say to yourself "aah I can probably go just a BIT tighter.." :p
