Vortex VIP Warranty

I have a Vortex PST in the warranty shop now.

It is 5 years old and has ^of 3000 rounds on it.

Windage seems to be the problem and doesn't seem to hold zero as it once did.

I like the scope though.

I own one of their razor gen II and it works absolutely like a charm. Like many on here, the razor line is stunning.

I think the big takeaway here is that a company that stands behind their product absolutely, is so rare now that it's a refreshing change from having to fight and sometimes lose a warranty claim.

Good on Vortex, Leupold, Nikon, and and the other more expensive manufacturers are have no-quibble, transferable warranties.

Purchased a vortex PST Gen II 5x25-50 FFP MRAD scope through AL flatherys, upon mounting it on my RPR, I went to go test out the illumination and holy ####!! I couldn't even turn it. I had to google a review on YouTube, and witnessed someone turning his with one hand, I literally had to grip it as hard as hell just for it to turn one click. So I get on the phone and speak with a polite gentleman over at vortex Canada, and he states that something is definitely not right, and that he will send me a prepaid shipping postage to send it off to them. He stated that once it gets here that they will look at it asap, if they can't fix it, or parts will take too long to get here, that they will just send me a new one. I will keep you guys posted along the way as this is my first time dealing with Vortex, but so far very impressed.

I have a Razor HD Gen 2 4.5-27x 50mm and a Razor HD Gen 2 1-6x 24mm along with 2 pistol-mounted Razor MRDSs and nary a bobble. Everything works exactly as intended and expected. I really couldn't ask for better than what I have experienced with the Vortex Razor line. I reckon like everyone else, Vortex has econo lines with less than stellar performance and longevity. That is where the warranty is definitely worth having. With the Razor line, I have never had need of it. The Vortex line is definitely a case of getting what you pay for!

Really? Have a look at the OP's first post. His $1500 optic was DOA. Is that an "econo line" scope? His isn't the first to be reported on CGN for being DOA.

Vortex is the same as Bushnell, Nikon and Leupold, they have a ton of very cheap very low quality products and a handful of decent optics at the top end of price. The reputable brands offer good optics throughout their lineup and the higher priced ones simply have more features.

Any brand worth it's salt has exactly the same warranty/service. The take away is that optics from a reputable brand don't need a warranty.

LOL, thanks for that - I needed a good chuckle today. I have people at work that say we don't need vendor service contracts because all the issues we're going to encounter are in the manuals.

Here’s my experience:

Diamondback 2-7 Rimfire —> no issues
Viper 4-12 PA —> no issues
Crossfire 2-7 —> loose reticle had to be repaired on warranty.

If you want perfection you have to pay for it.
Vortex warranty is awesome, but is the product nightforce quality? -Nope

Make your decision according to your application/budget ratio. There is definitely a place in the world for these optics, just as there is definitely a place for optics such as: nightforce, Swarovski, S&B, etc.

I think you're misinterpreting my comment. Reputable brands have warranty and excellent ones at that. Your chances of needing to use it are exponentially lower than the warranty from companies like Vortex and Bushnell who simply market a warranty but sell junk.

Maybe, maybe not. The retail cost is likely 3 or 4 times more than production cost so they're still in the black with two returns per sale. Vortex doesn't make optics, they market them.. And they do it well enough to convince the masses that they're getting a "deal"..
