Vortex viper on 30-378?

Here's the situation: I have a vortex 6.5-20-50 HS and I have a 30-378 weatherby, will the scope stand the recoil? I only have to buy the mounts. But before doing it I'm asking.
I know that I can put a better scope over it but my vortex is staying unused on the shelf.

Not just the scope...will the mounts. Obviously dont go cheap on mounts. Vortex has a very good warranty. Scopes in this magnification are typically long range target rigs, many are also heavy recoil calibers, if this is the purpose of the rifle, then why not use it. If you intend to use the rifle for general hunting 6.5 may be too high a minimum magnification for shorter shots.
