I wanted a red dot for a Sig P226. Local shop has a Fastfire 3 in stock, but they can get a Vortex Viper in stock in about 5-7 weeks. They are both pretty much the same price.

I have had good luck with Vortex in the past, but also with Burris. If you were to buy one or the other (ignore timeframe) which one would you get?

I have 4 Vortex Viper and Venom red dot sight and 1 Burris FS3, the Vortex are mounted on my .45 1911; 9mm, and other handguns, they all work well, Burris FS3 was slide mount on a 9mm, won't stay zero after a couple of hundred shots, sold it with the gun 2 years ago, friend of mine also has a FS3, mounted on a target 22 pistol, seems to work OK, from what I heard, early FS2 and 3 have some quality problem, not sure if the quality improved recently or not.
