Looking a picking up either a Vortex Venom or a Viper Red Dot. The differences seem negligible. Any one have any experience with one or the other or both?
It will probably end up on a Glock style slide or a Semi Auto Shot gun.

I have 2 Vortex Vipers - in 3 and 6 MOA.

I like them on my PCC and rimfire pistols.

They have always worked and seem robust with acceptable battery life.

I would buy again if the opportunity arose.

The difference between the 2 is really in their height. The Viper is lower than the Venom, which is a good thing for a slide mounted red dot. The downside to that is that you need to remove the Viper to swap the battery whereas the Venom's battery is replaced from the top, so no need to remove it from the slide. Basically if you most value having the lowest possible optic, get the Viper, if not, get the Venom to be able to more easily replace the battery.

Save up a little more and go straight to the Razor and never worry about it failing. I've had three guys I know have issues with the viper and venom and have now switched to the Razor and haven't had anymore issues. It's not if, but when it will crap the bed.

Well guys, I pulled the trigger on a Venom at todays PR Vortex sale. I went with the Venom as it has a similar form factor to the Romeo 1 and DPP.

This optic is going to go on a gun that is not used too often. Holosun is usually my go to for pistol red dots but at $500 a pop, its not worth it for going on a .22

Thanks for all the input.
