Vortex viper vs. vortex crossfire 2

Hey all.

Been doing a lot of reading and basically it boils down to this....

I just got a savage 10tr (law enforcement) and I am new to the longer range stuff .
I was given a vortex viper 6.5-20x-50 mil dot I believe. And was also given a vortex crossfire 6.5-24x-50 mil dot.

I plan to shoot 300-500yds.
Do I go for more magnification over marginal? Class quality... Or mount the better glass less magnification ?

What would you do?

You will be fine with the viper. A few power magnification doesn't matter that much.

The glass quality difference will be more important than the magnification for sure.

I know it's not really high end glass, but I love my Viper 4-16x44 LR. I bought it for my savage stainless, heavy barrel thumbhole .17 hmr. Really fun rimfire.

My buddy lent me his 4-12 crossfire for a bit to help decide and it made me buy the viper instead. Next big scope purchase will be a 6500 or a sightron, but I have no regrets with my viper. It's a good scope.
