Just a heads up for anyone thinking of purchasing the Vortex VMX3 30mm Swing mount...

Im not sure why they call it a "Swing" to side mount as it is actually a "Twist" to side mount. I should have noticed it in the pictures on their website...

Still a nice piece, its made by ADM (American Defense) and branded for Vortex..
 
Thanks for the heads up.

How hard is it to swing the mount into place? or how much force is needed? Would it be possible to inadvertently activate the swing if you jerked or hit the rifle too hard?

Also where did you purchase the mount?

Its almost that perfect happiness of not to stiff and not to soft... I personally feel its a touch to soft.. I think the only thing that would accidentally activate it would be direct contact hard enough or dropping your firearm ;)

Its a 30mm tube.. so any 30mm mount would work..

The magnifier is no Aimpoint but not bad for the $$

I have one downside to the mount (on my AR anyway)... it can only be mounted in one direction that I can see.. I haven't field tested it yet...but... I have included pics to show what Im talking about.. the mount when holding the magnifier in the "not in use position" the magnifier sits lower than when its in the "in use position"... so... if its mounted to swing to the ejection port side, when its swung out I have a feeling ejected brass will be deflecting off the magnifier... I tested with snap caps and they seemed to be bouncing off the magnifier when ejecting... only a field test will tell... at least its quick release!

Not sure what you mean... I know the VMX magnifier works with the Strikefire and the tube on the Strikefire is 30mm so the mount could be used on it I would think...

The optic in my pics is the Sparc... I haven't tried it with the 2x in the Sparc and the VMX magnifier as the eye relief on the 2x screw in magnifier is pretty bad and I would imagine it wouldn't work even if I tried...

As far as I know you can't... SFRC is backordered... and the other two dealers I know of one didn't reply to 2 emails sent to their company email and the other was still waiting for theirs as well...

Online order, BH Video has a website. They only ship UPS which is a downer (I hate them) but the Worldwide Saver option is not badly priced and you only pay GST, no brokerage.

I would have bought from a Canadian dealer but I'm patiently waiting for a Marauder Kit which will likely be a long while, so I had to feed the habit some how and couldn't wait for one of the dealers to get there stock.
