Vortex vs Burris

I've had a few Vortex come and go, don't have any how. Nicest was a Viper HS, cheapest a Crossfire. Crossfire needed warranty service early on, I replaced with a Diamondback. Both were fine. I thought the Viper HS was a great scope @ around $600 until I tried a Sightron S3=very easy to see the quality difference for a little more $. Sightrons have never let me down, I've owned S1s, S3s an an S-Tac. Still have the 1/3 with lots of miles on both.

One of the few new scopes I've bought in recent years was a Burris, this model to be exact;

The glass might be the nicest I've used for the $, and I don't see ever replacing it. The power adjustment ring takes way too much effort to turn, but other than that oddity...it's a beauty.

For me, if it doesn't say Burris/Sightron/Leupold on it...I'm not overly interested unless it's an older, Japanese Bushnell like a 3200 or an old Banner.
I was just about to ask you about the power ring on the E1 you have until I read your post further. I just got one for a muzzleloader and its the same way, wasn't sure if I just got a dud. I checked the glass and the adjustments in store but didn't try the power ring.

Yep! In fact, thought mine was seized until I got it moving. A bit odd, but the glass is great for the price and I finally got that little E1 reticle leveled. I think. lol

I would be looking at this one: https://store.theshootingcentre.com/burris-signature-hd-2-10x40-sfp-riflescope/

before even thinking about looking at vortex, much less purchasing one.

Yea, they have a great warranty, but it sucks not having a scope on your rifle when you have to send one in for any kind of work. Of all my years of abuse on scopes, I have yet to send one in for warranty. My own incompetency, yes, I had a NF I sent in for work, and go it back 3 months later, at no charge. It was clearly my fault for the work required, but still came back fixed, no charge. I timed it through the winter though, so I would not be without an optic.

And yes I happen to use the burris HD, and have both the 2-10 and 3-15x44.
Ok, thank you for your response

If memory is correct, Don Burris was a key designer/engineer for the Redfield outfit when he formed the Burris Company. His early scopes resembled the Redfield look. If I were to choose between Vortex and Burris I'd go with Burris.
Thank you I did

Thank you for your knowledge and imput

You act like the other big scope companies don't have similar warranties... Burris, Bushnell, and Leupold all have lifetime warranties too.

I've got a vortex viper 3-9x40 w/ the 1" tube. For the price I paid ($299) I'm very happy with it, been hunting with it for about 7 years now, been dropped a few times climbing over logs, slipping on wet tree roots, etc, and haven't had any issues with it. I would absolutely buy another for the right price.

I don't have a lot of love for the diamondback or crossfire lines though.
Yes I agree my viper has been ok for me, but I'm also happy with my Burris so far. Hoping to put it to the real test in the field soon, lol thanks for the response and imput
